I had a brother who I didnt meet until we were in our early 30s. Same Dad, different Moms. We both found out about each other's love of working on mechanical things. And Guns. And being outdoors. And the TV show Deadliest Catch. We got one weekend to hang out after our Dad passed away. After taking care of Dad's belongings we got to spend an afternoon firing the guns at Dad's 20 acre property. Unfortunately, my Brother, who was a Veteran suffering with unimagineable pain, facing the repossession of his house and loss of his marriage, took his own life a few years later, and we never got the chance to work on any projects together. What I would give to have a day like this one with my Brother. Good job Rudy, you're an amazing Brother. Kaulin must be a fan of ROADKILL giving us that "BAM!" While working on those brakes.

Rudy, you take after your mother and father, you have a good heart. When you said OK, we can put the hubs on and go for a drive Kaulin's face just lit up, it is lovely to see two brothers interested in the same things so as they can share these beautiful moments together. You went out on a limb Rudy with all the spares you got for the truck to hopefully allow Kaulin to drive it home. You’re a star Rudy.

Cool Truck. One of the first with zone AC. Each zone has a separate switch. You will find them on the doors just forward of main window. The switches are a bit tricky as you need to flip them up then push. Looking forward to seeing how you fix it up.

Rudy, everything you were working on and replacing on the truck that came off easily with no broken bolts or lines, the old fuel pump working fine and the engine running well, idling smoothly and making power when you fire it up...are all signs the truck was meant to come into your family, specifically to Colin. It will be something you and he can work on together on your channel and build into his dream truck and people will love watching you both do it...win, win, win! I learned to drive on a 1963 Pontiac station wagon, when it was four years old. Yep, those were the days. Simple, straight forward, super reliable, engines. Imagine how easy it was to keep one of those engines running well, if it will start like that after sitting for years, and at the age of 59. Notice how empty the engine compartment is? I drove a 68 Chevy small block V8 from Michigan to Arizona to our new home, while the rest of the family flew. It was six months old, and I never noticed that one of the distributor wires was disconnected. I was 17 and had no idea what it was supposed to feel like. When I got to Phoenix my Dad immediately knew a cylinder was missing. The engine did not care that it was seven cylinders instead of eight. It ran really smoothly; just a slight roughness.

I'm getting used to car-park rebuilds these days, so good to see these old clunkers being brought back to life. I think the six might have a valve lifter issue, but if the steering and front suspension is okay you can drive it home.
@johnme70492 жыл бұрын
YEESSS!!! Give me an old straight six any day! Simple, dependable easy to work on. I will admit I was glad to put away points and go to fancy smancy e-lek-tron-ick-le ignition, and disc brakes and even anti lock has been good but that is good! The locking up brakes is something you really want to keep in mind, especially if raining. Our neighbor has his truck totaled because some young man was going around a curve in a just restored 60 something Chevy truck in the rain, (New tires), he tapped the brakes and they locked sending him straight thru the curve and into my neighbor. :( Nobody was hurk but the old Chevy hadn't been out of the paint shop a week. We get used to anti lock brakes and expect too much from an old truck. Not good. But she's a RUNNER! This is great! Rudy's gonna fix you up right.

You are such a pro Rudy. You sprayed into the carburator to start the engine. No fire extinguisher in sight. Carborators can backfire. Then later, saw you had a fire extinguisher.
