There's a U-joint in the driveshaft at the point of breakage so it still should be able to go. And even if weight comes off front axle he can still steer with the second one.

I wonder why they use such long rigid trucks there. It seems to be often in these videos, I see the rigid trucks which are as big as tractors with trailers. Why not use a tractor with a flatbed trailer?

Because rigid trucks have much better traction off-road and uphill 90% of the weight is on the drive axle a tractor only has a small amount of weight on the drive and can't pull steep inclines..
