This Vietnamese Banh Mi Puts Subway in Shame
In this video I went to Saigon and as a first stop was to book a cheapest hotel in Saigon and probably Vietnam too. That was a dorm bed right in the middle of Bui Vien walking street. In the pictures the room was looking so good and I was expecting that this going to be a really nice place to stay. To be honest, in reality it looks much worse. But it's not that bad, it actually kind of worth the price. The interesting or maybe strange thing was that bathroom had a really poor lighting. Not sure why was that, maybe to cover up something. Or maybe it was a romantic light :D
Second mission was to find the best Banh Mi in Saigon and best I ever tried. With a little research I found the most popular place in Saigon. With a little confusion where to order and where to pick up this Banh Mi, I finally got it. This place is huge. They have separate place just for walk on order, place where you can eat and place for online orders only. In total they have about 16 or maybe more people working there. They have mountains of meat and other goodies for Banh Mi. Finally I had a bite at the coffee shop near by and was surprised, it tasted so good. And was quite heavy Banh Mi as well. It was more meat than the bread. I only had half of it and already felt quite full.
Third stop was to have famous cake but I failed. The place was closed. Instead I found the other place where a really nice ladies sell sweet potato and corn cakes. They were very delicious. This lady was also very friendly and we had a good laugh.
Right next to it there was another lady that sold fruits. I bought some fruit and was eating Vietnamese style with some salt. Then I saw a homeless child, we gave him a fruit and lady show me where child mother was. I bought some more fruits and gave to the homeless Cambodian girls that had this child.
Finally the time has came to wash everything down. For that I found a nice little place that was selling Milo drinks. With no waiting around I ordered and had my first ever Milo drink. At first it was quite hard to drink it. But after a little mixing I finally got the grip and enjoyed a delicious glass of Milo.

Grab will disable their accounts if they take orders from people outside of the app. Grab have many ways to enforce this, since Grab drivers always have their location tracked by the app on their phone, Grab hires people going around the streets checking if drivers are obeying the rules, going on social medias and check for any violations in travel vlogs, etc. So your camera was probably the reason why he didn't want to take you.

For the Huynh Hoa banh mi, the shop that had 12 people working and no order window is for online Grab orders (that's why all those drivers were standing there waiting). And the other shop where you ordered your sandwich is for regular walk-up orders.

I had Huynh Hoa before, back when it was just 36.000 for a banh mi. It wasnt really my favorite, too expensive, the banh mi is too heavy with the meat, I'd rather buy 2 separated ones with different filling from smaller street vendors.

They do not want to drive you because they are not allowed to drive someone without booking from the Grab app. Usually, you have to book from the app. For traditional driver ( Xe Ôm), they will drive you everywhere you want

You can always rent a bike and drive around the city yourself. It's an exciting experience riding around the local streets. Just make sure you have a helmet on. Also I don't advise tipping food vendors.

What is sad is the French don't admit they learn the technique making French crepe from Vietnam. Viet make rice wrapper 100 yrs before the French arrived, and "Banh Xeo", etc. is come from rice wrapper technique. Even the 1st sushi was from south east Asia country, salted/fermented fish with "hand roll "rice is very common in southeast asian country. Fish sauces, chilli paste such as "US Sriracha" is common in Viet culture. Sriracha founder flee to Sriracha-Thailand as a refugee, not where he learned to make chilli paste.

It's more specific that way, since Subway sells other foods as well not just sandwich and the auto translation won't make this funny error again

Brand names need to be left untranslated, so you'll have to find a way to dodge the translation on the name "Subway". Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa này mình thật sự thấy giá đắt và... nói ra thì lại giống tại sao người Việt ko ủng hộ người Việt, nhưng giá cho 1 ổ bánh mì vậy là quá cao. Và thêm 1 vấn đề ở đây là phần nhân quá nhiều, chẳng để làm gì. Nhân như thế sẽ làm mất cân bằng mùi vị ăn sẽ thấy ngán chứ ko ngon. Giống như bạn đi ăn 1 tổ phở bò mà 7 phần thịt bò 3 phần là bánh phở thì thật chẳng ra làm sao. Mà ý kiến cá nhân, có thể nhiều người lại thích thịt và chả nhiều như vậy.

The drivers didn't want to drive you because it was literally around the corner from where you were standing. For $2.89 USD per night, you expected to get what you saw in pictures?? They should have shown a picture of a bed, period.

Maybe next time I need to say driver that I will pay more. I noticed that some hostels post pictures when they build hostel, but after some tears it don’t look anything like it.

Just watch your video and see the grap who is refuse take you to Bui vien, He can not take you to Bui Vien Beacuse you have to down app grap and pickup grap like him in app. If he take you go to Bui vien not by app grap company He can not get money from grap company .. So sorry my explan
