i continue to maintain that the current spike hitboxes are at least more sensible than the ones from smm1. in that game, you could walk out over a spike from one direction, but be killed from the other. spike hitboxes in smm2 are at least symmetrical.

My guess as to what happened to Bowser Jr at the end, is that at some point while taking damage, his hotbox shrunk. It grew again only when there was not enough room to grow, and he was crushed.

About the first level, sliding down slopes is slightly faster than running so you can definitely get a better time than that.

Bowser Jr got squished cause when he is hit, he is temporary invincible, so the mole with the bullet bar got able to get "over" him, which led to getting squished.

Seeing the bouncy ending to that one level makes me almost regret not sending you my very first SMM2 level. It was stacks of sideways springboards on top of note blocks in a box of more noteblocks that spat out more sideways springboards, then a section of noteblock floor with more stacks of sideways springboards that got stirred into a confusing mess by a Twister. And of course a bunch of bouncing at the very end around the goal. I later went back in and added an "upper path" that lead you to a subworld deathtrap that was just bouncing and annoying sound effects. I'm so proud of my level. ;) I'm trying to design a level you'll actually enjoy, though, not just troll you with my first gag level.
