Sammy is STILL the Red Rocker and STILL killing it at 76! His voice sounds amazing and I dare anyone to find a happier, more cool, fun-loving man on the planet. Michael Anthony is so criminally underrated as a vocalist and bassist. In a band with Eddie who gets all the shine (rightfully so) everyone else is in his shadow, even Alex who was an awesome drummer. This was THE band in the late 70's and through the 80's. Diamond Dave, Alex, Michael, Eddie and Sammy.. all-timers each and every one!

I think the following was in Hagar's book: Apparently, how this song was born was Sammy and his girl/wife at the time were getting hot and heavy one night when Eddie, who lived right down the street showed up and was calling him from outside the house. He wanted to show Sammy a new guitar piece, so Sammy went with him, and they worked all night on it but couldn't get viable lyrics for it. So, in the early morning hours, Sammy went home and tried to rekindle things with his woman, but she'd long gone to bed. Sammy was pleading with her; "Come on honey. Come on don't leave me this way. Let's finish what we started."........the rest is history.

Alex Van Halen’s book, “Brothers” comes out on 10/24/24. He is finally going to tell the REAL story behind his and brother Edward’s life in Amsterdam, coming to the US not speaking any English, and their musical lives together. I named my youngest after Alex as he is not only an amazing musician, but a very intelligent, and sweet human being. My heart still breaks for him, having lost his beloved best friend and brother. He recently sold his entire drum collection and though it was for a wonderful cause, that also just ripped my heart out. Read it!

I LOVE this song. Eddie's guitar playing is so precise it almost doesn't sound human. You really get to hear the detail with the distortion dialed down. Just awesome. Love that shirt Amber! I'm thinking it's time for some SAMMY HAGAR solo stuff 😁 I would like to emphatically recommend, "I'll fall in lobe again" from 1981.

I was wondering if anyone else was going to bring up Ice Cream Man, Jamie's Crying, Runnin with the Devil, basically the entire album. But Ice Cream Man is my favorite. The royalties from Van Halen's recording of Ice Cream Man helped the songwriter, John Brim, open a nightclub in Chicago. Kind of nice to know an original artist didn't have to chase down a modern band for credit like a lot did back in the 60s and early 70s.

Cuzin Vinny here, a new member of the Rob Squad family. You guys are awesome! Just watched your Freebird reaction. You know what makes that solo so special. It's two separate solos dubbed over each other but the amazing thing is, most musicians come into the studio and record 30 or 40 tracks and pick the best one. Allen Collins walked in the studio one morning and did the Solo in one take and then turned around and did it again. Second solo in one take. Allen Collins was bad, super bad that day!
