The old saying " time flys when youre having fun" is so true. I have listened to this song and Sultans of Swing every single day since they first got released along time ago. Never get sick of them. Like a big boost in energy for the day.

I don't think there is a better track than this for demonstrating how good every musician in the band is.

I am so glad you have reacted to Telegraph Road, especially the Alchemy version. As I said in the comments from Sultans of Swing , I was at Hammersmith Odeon when this was filmed. Telegraph Road is such an epic complicated piece that we didn't think they would be able to play it live and do it justice. Boy we were wrong, its better than the studio version. This was the encore and I have no idea how they played with so much energy to the end, especially Terry Williams on the drums. I'm really happy that you loved it

You’re very fortunate, and I’m jealous! I’m glad you brought up Terry, as he’s frequently overlooked, but he’s an absolute monster back there. I don’t know how he wasn’t absolutely exhausted by this song, much less the whole set. It’s really clear how tired he is in the video of the concert at the end of “Tunnel of Love”, but he’s always on time and never misses a beat. What an amazing lineup; this was my favorite iteration of Dire Straits.

Mark Knopfler is 73 now and still working. Mark wrote the music, words, arranged it, sang it and played his guitar as only he can, all this masterpiece came from Mr Knopfler. A true GENIUS. Well done 👏👏👏👏👏

Mark K makes the guitar sing, shout, cry, moan...and his bandmates always have his back... Brothers In Arms is another great song from them, I see you've reacted to it. Intense.

I would go with tunnel of love live at wembley 1985 for your next dire straits song. They are always brilliant and each tour has a different take on their songs. I saw them on their on every street tour in 1991 and they were amazing still the best band I’ve ever seen live.

I agree with you! I saw them three times during the OES tour in 1992 (LA, Portland, and Phoenix) and they were still astonishing though I know the band was miserable during that tour. I have to say I like the earlier, smaller versions of the band (I never saw the need for Paul Franklin on steel guitar, for instance. He’s a great musician, but it didn’t further most of the music in my opinion.)

I can tell you're excited to hear this... You're going to be blown away again! Gotta tell you... Put this up on a big screen, shut the lights off put your headphones on and enjoy the story/trip... Why does it take an Englishman to tell a story of America? Mark is a lyricist, storyteller, and arranger extraordinaire beyond being a Guitar God. See this is what has been lost in real music artists today. I am so blessed to see him in my lifetime. Over the top... see I told you! Now a little beautiful beat listen to Romeo and Juliet, of course by DIre Straits/ Mark Knopfler.

A little background to the song. Mark likes to write songs with historical stories behind them. As I heard it, Dire Straits was on tour and playing Detroit. They were staying in a motel off of Telegraph Road. The name intrigued Mark. And the song is about what is now a 6 lane road with wires on poles running down the middle, and the rise and fall of Detriot and the auto industry.

That was a Brit telling us the story of Michigan. It's absolutely uncanny. A guitarist from England describing our origins. We are so shy of mirrors. Why? The story is beautiful and may hold some keys to our remedies. You might try a piece of solo work by Mark Knopfler. It's called "Boom Like That", and it's the story of McDonald's and it's founder, Ray Kroc. Interestingly, all the lyrics were taken from Kroc's Autobiography. The rationalizations of a megalomaniac are fascinating.

Hi great reaction and channel. This is my all time fav. song. I think you'll also love Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits - On The Night Live 1993 and also Private Investigations from that same concert. That song just gives me the chills in that performance. Thanks. Cheers from Australia 😊🎸🎸

Now you can see why we love Dire Straits, now listen to brothers in arms, even if you listen to it by yourself, trust us, you'll love it, it comes from the album of the same name, the band let all of the profits from the album go to amnesty International to help fight aspartate in South Africa and it got the band banned from South Africa until the end of aspartate. Check it out

Try some of Mark Knopflers solo work. I would recommend a live version of "If this is Goodbye". From his work when he ran Dire Straits try "Once Upon a Time In The West or my favourite "Tunnel of Love or the very emotional "brothers in Arms". I look forward to your reviews (By the way Sultans of SWING).
