I think the “son of darkness” he’s trying to be is one who shuns the evil and temptation of darkness. It’s really powerful, especially knowing that James, who writes the lyrics, went through rehab a few times. Amazing song.

Interesting. It seems with Metallica’s new album, they are going back to their punk origins. On the other hand, Megadeth also put out a new album that seems to resemble their 80’s thrash metal stuff. Both new albums are awesome. Both are very cerebral and a return to good music.
