On the vinyl siding, getting rid of the green, use your bleach treatment first get rid of what you got on there, then get your turtle wax that you use on a car and then seal the vinyl with the wax and you can shine it or polish it. The wax will keep the mold from sticking to the vinyl.

Happy New Year Growns Family! I used to work for a vinyl siding manufacturing company and I am sorry to say that there is nothing you can do to keep your siding clean except power wash it every year! Usually the mold is from trees being close to your house and sap getting on it. But other things can do it too like getting wet and not drying out by the sun. So if that side is in the shade all of the time and dust and dirt gets on it. You are doing the right thing by going back with metal on the bottom. A lot of people use rock as well. However it will mold as well so power washing will have to be done there as well. You should check your warranty on the siding and see what is covered. It may be replaceable if it is faded once you get it washed. Most warranties will cover fade for material but not labor to put it on. I did warranty coverage for the manufacturer. They are out of business now. LOL Good Luck!
