What did you use to finish the tops? Lacquer, poly, or something else? How many coats and what type of sanding and or polishing worked best?

I sanded up to 400 grit. I've seen people recommend higher, but 400 has worked well for me. Then I used hard wax oil. 2 coats, light sanding in between. Then a couple of coats of Paste Wax, gets me the result that I'm looking for :)
