This Was Such A Struggle!! Trying Oil Pastels!

As a child, I remember hating oil pastels. As an adult, all I can say when I see others make art with them is "Oh my goodness look at that TEXTURE!". My mother purchased the 60 set of oil pastels from Arteza for me for Christmas and I FINALLY got the courage to try them out. It was......an adventure. A real struggle honestly. But I ended up making some pretty okay things with them.

I wouldn't say pastels and I are friends, maybe acquaintances who have agreed to hang out one more time 🤣. But I'm going to keep trying! I can't wait to see what you make with them!

Paper texture makes a huge difference! Oil pastels will glob and smear on smooth paper. I've had the best luck with a heavy watercolor paper (Strathmore 400 series).
