Greenslick is one of the most popular black diamond trails in the Western North Carolina area, and it was the first ever black diamond trail that I rode 10 years ago. Since then I've ridden MANY black, double black, and even red pro line trails, but it's fun to come back every now and then to see where it all began...
Because of how popular this trail is, it's subject to quite a bit of abuse and trail erosion, so pretty soon it's going to be gettin a nice facelift. Before that happens though, I thought it would be fun to go ride it in it's current state and take a stroll down memory lane.

Black trails in Wa state are a whole lot more challenging than that first one ? Still a sweet trail, but definitely ore like a blue trail over here in the PNW

Oh without a doubt! For context, this is a really popular park in the heart of Asehville that is ridden by a very wide variety of cyclist, so for that reason I think things are rated a little softer than even other riding spots around town

I ride to take all the stress off my mind! When I ride all I think about is my riding and how fast I can smash a black trail , maybe recklessly at times , but I have taught myself how to ride so much faster and corner way harder now! Mtb is my true therapy!

Rode this 20 years ago and also got caught in a major thunderstorm on top of Wood Mtn. the next day... and hopelessly lost on a MTS connector. It was about a 5 hour epic struggle. Saw a wild black bear too.

You aren’t going too fast and yes, I do the same, cover the brakes and be prepared to stop. I know what you mean, it looks fast, and it is, but modern hydraulic brakes have amazing stopping power.

I love seeing you going back to roots! GL is so much fun, but I still enjoy IFG more. That WB 90 degree hard right at the end of the "jump line" ... Just keep straight onto Ledford Branch and let your speed scrub naturally, then roll back to the intersection. It's a fun addition since being rebuilt! And there's several extra fun bits in BC that can be strung together for a super stoke ride. I appreciate your vids most due to your unbridled exuberance! Keep it going!
