P2W is like cheating in older games. i loved the cheat codes back in Age of Empires. it was fun for an hour to have god mode or endless ressources. but it gets boring very quickly. there is no challenge. thats why i would never try to win a whale or kraken account in a giveaway like Cold Brew did a week ago. its fun to see all this stuff and be able to try it out. but nothing on this account was achieved by me. nothing connects me to this account. i had no special moments during shard openings or reaching a new milestone. someone else did all of that. THATS why i love to be F2P. i can be proud to be able to say that i got everyrhing by myself with patience, focus and a little bit of luck during shard openings. play your own version of RAID and dont try to compete with the rest.

Agree as someone in the end game of raid the fun is mostly over. It’s more I’m addicted to it now and have spent so much energy, time, and money I can’t stop now. I still enjoy playing but it’s not like it used to be. When you have 12 mediocre epics and one decent Lego just trying to push one piece of content. Getting some shards knowing anything you pull will change your account. I could start a new account but I don’t have that time. So I am just here to say I agree.

the biggest takeaway I got from Boozer was when you both came to the conclusion that spending money in this game does next to nothing for my end game account, but IT DID do wonders for my early and mid-game account. there is almost nothing in the shop that can advance my account now accept shards and books. and those are so over-priced its ridiculous. thanks again for the interview, it was really cool to see someone else and their methods.

Here's the thing about why I started selling all my 5 Star Artifacts (non mythic) after playing for a year: Rank 6 Enchantments can only go on Rank 6 Gear. Now Rank 6 Enchantments are not common, obviously, but the amount of boost you get vs. Rank 5 is insane. Just look at Speed. 1-5 for Rank 5, 3-8 for Rank 6. If you had Speed Substats on 6 pieces of gear (Banner, Chest, Gloves, Head, Weapon, Shield) that's +30 speed with Rank 5 maxed vs. +48 Speed with Rank 6 maxed. 18 points of Speed is HUGE. Then look at HP/DEF/ATK, its % and its the same amount. 18% more ATK and/or 18% more HP is ridiculous. That's not even getting into Ascension. So I totally get it, knowing that a Rank 5 with the best possible stats will always be 20% worse than a Rank 6 is exactly why you shouldn't waste and silver on it. Yeah, you'll sell a lot of great gear and it hurts to do that but I encourage anyone who disagrees to do ONE THING right now: Go look at all your unequipped lvl 16 Rank 5 pieces, add them up and then multiply that by 1 Million. That's how much silver you would have saved. That's probably between 30-80 Million Silver I'm betting, if not 100+

#1 plarium should increase the energy cap. #2 allow players to accumulate the free energy over cap, maybe release the prior month's banked energy at the start of every month b/c we all know how they love to gate every aspect of this game w/money.
@wingedzer010 ай бұрын
Whats the point of the cap if you can accumulate energy above it? I kind of get where you're coming from when you buy an energy pack and feel like you have to rush to use it to get back to energy regeneration but thats one of the strategic elements and also honestly is the double edge sword of spending money.
@uwillnevahno683710 ай бұрын
I assume you're asking about #2? That's a banking option, it would perhaps encourage player retention. #1 and #2 are independent options not sequentially tied to each other. We know no matter what plarium does the last thing they'll do is something in favor of the players.@@wingedzer0

Awesome video, Ash. I'm really glad that I took the time to watch both videos. I am a cluster mate of Boozor's, and he is a solid guy. He is always looking to optimize his accts and bounces ideas off several people, and tries to look for that edge everywhere. He also takes the time to share this with others and tries to help them grow in their own way. P2w or ftp, doesn't matter. I am ftp like him as well, so I look for these same edges and strategies as he does. I'm nowhere near the level of discipline and intensity that he plays with. He has truly built two special accts, and I'm glad to see how much of an impact that has had on you and I hope it has on others. Ftp is truly a different game and is still fun. The artifact quality thing is something I've been thinking about after the last free gear removal event. Most of the pieces I used (with HH Optimizer) had speeds of like 10+. Very few of the gear pieces didn't have high speed that were used. I'm really thinking about selling anything below 6 unless it has speed and other favorable stats, or could be used in a special set like regen. As mid to late game, why should I have 1400 pieces of gear in the vault when all my 60s and 50s are geared. PS: In regards to the video topic, I only buy the monthly gem pack anymore. I made a few small purchases the first few months and learned I'd rather not spend money to be disappointed.
@Relativizor9 ай бұрын
Here's my artifact handling strategy as a F2P: Trash set? Keep at most 1 of each item type, for the case where it gets reworked. Good set? Keep 3. S-tier set? Keep 3, but for stuff like gloves and boots, keep 3 for each primary stat which might work out (SPD, HP%, ...). This means I can compare new artifacts to the current vault easily, and if it has 0 potential, it's an insta-sell. If it does have potential, it might usurp one of the other items. I might roll something to +4 or +8 even, but generally that requires I have a champion in mind who needs the piece where it would be an account-improvement. This keeps my artifact count way off from the limit, and it greatly reduces the amount of silver I throw into them. You are bad at gauging the power of your artifacts unless you compare them. Hence, you generally keep on to artifacts which were strong in the past, but your account is way beyond that point. You just don't know. Keeping them around is risky because you might accidentally begin investing in them.

What a great video. Thank you. I got sucked into spending like you said because it made things easier, and my time is more valuable to me (i.e. not grinding). But recently I've been feeling bad about overspending and how expensive most everything is in the game, so I've decided to stop. This video has helped validate my decision. I love the game, and I have hundreds of champions to play with and build, so why spend on anything else. Hopefully I can stick to it and just enjoy what I've already got and not stress over FOMO.

I watched that video at the time, as I've followed @Boozor for about 8/9 months. I don't do live arena, in fact I absolutely detest arena, and that has been his main focus recently, but I watch him because of his f2p view of the game. I'm a low spender (monthly gem pack, mini mix when 100% extra, and the very occasional forge pass). As a low spender I have to play the game more like a f2p than a Whale obviously, so seeing how he "plays" Raid did more to inform me on "how" to play my game as a low spender, than the main CC's who unthinkingly throw energy at things that I cannot do. CC's like yourself @Ash show me what champs can do, how to guides on specific content, bosses etc. and that's very informative, but that is not "how" to play Raid for non Whales. An example from that video on just how differently a big spender thinks compared to a f2p/low spender was when you unthinkingly collected the energy that @Boozer was saving for the next day's event, and looked absolutely mortified when you realised your mistake when @Boozor told you what it was for lmao. Those are the things low spenders do too, resource management is on a different level to spenders, and that's fine ofc, but I don't think CC's really take this into account for most of the year, until @HH does his f2p challenge at the start of each year, then it's remembered while they struggle, but as soon they go back to their mains it's all forgotten again within a month, and back to normal. If you took anything away from that fantastic collab, just remember the f2p/low spender when talking about specific fusion champs for instance. Truly judge the champ from beginner to end gamer, "AND" from f2p to Whale when doing so. Is it really a "must have" champ?... Really? Is it really a "trash" champ... Really? btw.. I hope you do another collab with @Boozor, and look up @Aroneous while your at it. He is another live arena g2 f2per that is also a great guy, great outlook, and worth a spotlight/shoutout too imo.
@Polarergeist10 ай бұрын
Yea what I noticed after 3-4 months and being f2p is that (no offence) but ash and hh and others dont really give the best tips/path for beginners and f2p. They say "save green shards for events yet how can you save those shards if you need level 60s? Or how with the new content you can farm so much with more 60s so saving shards for events and shit isnt that smart 99% of the time because progressing in all areas of the game gives you more recourses to then go further faster and then you can do events after like a year. F2p accounts HAVE to be played SOOOOO much different than p2w accounts. LIke I have yet to use arminger once, and my shieldguard I built 2 times to 50 I used as chickens eventually and will never build him again, its like they build them for fun wit hend game gear and think they are good for f2p players to build. I subbed to boz0r so Im hoping I can learn from him, and then just watch ash for fun/ champ spotlights/build suggestions etc.
@Dharin.10 ай бұрын
@@Polarergeist It's so true that p2w or p2p people play a different game from the f2p. I have a pay to play (p2p) account that gets the monthly gem pack, mini mix when 100% extra and the very occasional forge pass and my alt account is completely f2p. Even these 2 accounts have to be played differently. With management, I can do every fusion on my main, but only every 2/3 on my f2p. Just that gem pack/mini mix makes the world of difference. I too watch Boozor for the reason you do, and the other CC's for champ guides, news, shard pulls when I want to live vicariously through all the shards I don't pull etc, but that's it. I don't take much account of the op elements, because it's irrelevant to me and most of the player base. You have to remember, they have been playing for 3/4 years, so losing touch is inevitable if you p2w too, and just time in game. I watch @Ash and other's for entertainment, not information so much.

Totally agree on the 5 star gear. I only keep 5 star speed boots, and maybe some in the newer sets until I have built up enough 6 stars in them. All other 5 stars are automatic sells. I am F2P and also casual and I always seem to have enough silver as well, silver is actually the great equalizer in this game between high spenders and low spenders/F2P. Which is why I believe it would be a mistake to mess with the silver penalty for gear swapping, it would be a huge benefit for the whales and not so much for everyone else.

I enjoyed both videos. I think most end game and late game players are former low spend who are now playing free to play. As boozer said spending a little can help you a lot in the early game. Simply by helping you acquire a roster and food. But once you have ultranightmare clan boss on farm and can clear hard or even normal doomtower you can acquire shards for events. The value of shards and the bad rng and low likely hood of pulling anything that will help you makes spending feel bad. It’s one of the reason I don’t pull in events without any certainty. Wasting your sacreds during a 2x feels bad. But getting surprised by a good pull during a fusion shard event feels good. I don’t want to pull during times when it is 98% likely to be disappointing.

One of the biggest things I noticed from watching Boozor was that he never does campaign farming and I have been doing it for years. He upgrades champs in dungeons or minotaur I assume. With the addition of so many things I feel overwhelmed and I grt complacent and just do the same old things like farm stage 20 normal because it's the beat for points and it's fast and I don't even try pushing it very often or at all. I realized i could have been farming hard 10 dragon and 12-6 nightmare a while ago I just never really tried. I am still not pushed through sand devil or shogun but logging in, doing daily quests and cb and maybe grinding for event points or a fusion sidetracks my desire to push althoughcI would like to just do cb, hydra and shogun sandevil and maybe get more savage gear and not do the rest.

I've been watching Boozer for some time, originally got curious when I noticed he was a moderator on the reddit sub. I already shared many of his values because i'm a minimal spender (the $10 gem pack and occasionally a forge pass) but really want to maximize the free resources to also increase the value of my purchases. Many players who complain dont realize how many resources plarium is giving us for free. You get like 5 energy refills a day from questions, the daily log in and free shop reward which can keep me busy for the majority of the day. Also tournaments and events give a solid amount of resources and books for things you should be doing anyways which is a great way to double dip on the value of your energy, compound that with solo farming dungeons and leveling champions and you can get 3-5x the value of your energy.

When I purchase what I do in the game, it's hardly 'pay to win.' It's not rushing and skating through end game. Sure, it can help up to a point, but what does help is knowledge and knowing how the game works and the inner tips and tricks to things. I tried keeping my energy low all the time and using it all up and letting it fill back up again. But I was only able to just do a small handful of battles at a time. I said, screw that and now I sit nicely on 20k+ energy and I don't have to stress about fusions or anything else. I'm not end game, though I've been playing for over a year. I have good units but not good gear because I struggle with that aspect of the game. Yet, I spend money. Yet, I buy fusion packs and sometimes, shard packs. Spending money in this game is not an automatic free ride. It's all about why one plays this game in the first place, why one chooses to spend money or not. And this odd moral high ground that people have with being ftp is, quite frankly, really annoying. It's a personal choice and that goes both ways. Cool. One is not better than the other. Some people enjoy and prefer a challenge. I just prefer to play the dang game how I feel like it, at my leisure. And yes, it's still a challenge. But a fun one or else I wouldn't even be playing it.

I used to go ham and make sure i was doing all that i could but 4 years or more... i cba even doing advanced, i dont really do much, i chill these days. If the time requirements get too bad it might be the end of it, used to be enjoying but its honestly more like a job.

I was a mid spender throughout 2022/2023. I think now I'm happy as f2p. I would say if you're gonna spend.. get to where you can farm unm and nm CB. From that point life becomes 1,000 times easier as f2p. CB is the 1 area of the game that gives f2p a huge advantage, and I think that was an oversight by Raid in the beginning. If they had released it now.. the rewards would have never been that good.

After hearing what you've said here I don't feel the need to watch the interview. I don't have the time, energy or desire to play the game like he does. I guess I don't have the money or skills to become that good either. All of that said, I'd rather play for the enjoyment of the game: the animation and graphics. Although I use some money on the game it looks like I may switch to WOR and devote my time, efforts, and money there since it's still a relatively new game. I already it before so I'd just download it again. One of the things I really like about it versus Raid is that it started out with a story and continued to develop the story aspect of the game. I hope they continue that path.

I always kick myself when I let my energy reach 130/130. Only time when I go over that is when I'm setting up auto battles to do while I sleep or during a decent drive (never looking at it while I drive, btw). For gear, mtgjedi has got me into selling anything that isn't a 6-star piece, with very few exceptions, such as the latest 3 sets. I think his rule for this is if you are at the point of having Lydia, you don't need to hold onto anything other than 6-stars. For events and tournaments, I tend to only do them during fusions or if I want gear from the dungeon involved or the thing has rewards I really want. Otherwise, if none of that interests me, I'm likely running minotaur for masteries. It is the only time I have to get masteries, since I hate spending gems on masteries. I much rather spend those gems on ancient shards. Upgrading champs for me all depends if I have a use for the champ, but more importantly, do I even have the gear for them if I 6-star them? I have a 2nd Taras, 3 Trunda, 2 UDK, and others that, yes I want to 6-star, but I could barely gear the 1 of each that I did rank up. I don't think the gear I have left over is worth putting on some of those champs, so I rather rank up other champs that I do have gear for, even if the champ might not get much use. Once this Monster Hunter colab ends, I'm thinking of going back to just the daily gem pack offer and that is it. Even if a fusion happens I want, I don't think I'll go too hard on trying to get the resources for them, because as long as that champ isn't gone after the events for them end, I will always have a chance to pull them, which means at some point they will do an increased chance to obtain them. When the Monster Hunter colab started, I bought a lot of shards. That money I should have put towards far more important things, such as credit cards or my car. By no means am I hurting on either of those, but I could have done a double payment, rather than just a small payment.

Im f2p and sitting on like 90 000 energy after doing zinogre fusion and got alatreon from heros path and now working on the current fusion. Have 150million silver and a while bunch of shards. Im very picky about when i play and how i play. The best part is raid isnt my main game so i dont feel the need to play it all day. In between fusions i literally just do dailies and avdanced quests. DT runs ans sintranos and thats it. Cant be bothred farming arena on gold 3 at the moment for the great hall, way too much of a grind so that will just happen naturally when it happens. I really enjoy the way i play it. Also im the exact same, extremely selective on who i 6 star. Only the champs i need for the content im lacking on. All the best to everyone and happy raiding.

On my main account I stopped collecting 5* and below gear about 6 months or more ago and only keep 6* gear. I started to sell rare and below weapons, helmet, and shields unless it was a type I have very little of. Even then I have way too many perception and resilience gear.
@DavidQuessy10 ай бұрын
Here's the thing with that 5star life set shield u said u would keep and at least roll. I agree with u in terms of if it's worth rolling u can usually check up to +12 for fairly cheap. With that being said I 100%agree with boozer I would trash that. If anyone including you @Ash still are on the side of keeping that piece and rolling it. 1st I'll assume u already know it would be an off set piece. And if not , well in the rare time u will find yourself equipping from that set, u would be only cuz ur looking for hp. So hp set with no hp% in sub stats? It'll sit and never get used. And for my last point, please think about if YOU DID at least roll it, if u could pick where the 3 rolls went, would u actually use it? Trip rol spd, or crit rate on a 5s6ar won't be much and in that crappy set? That's why it's 100%! Insta sell. Not counting newer players tho that prolly couod find a usw for that

Money has no intrinsic value in itself - its worth is in what it can be exchanged for. You’re choosing to exchange it for time, and that’s a perfectly fine thing. Time is precious. The interview with Boozer was excellent. I do think it’s important to remember why we play Raid. Do we have a Pokémon ‘gotta catch ‘em all’ mentality or do we actually enjoy the game? If we enjoy the game, then we don’t need to chase after every new champ. Look at how much fun people doing HH’s FTP challenge are having this year, with the only Legendaries allowed being the free or fusion/fragment ones. YST said today that he’s going to keep his account going after the three months with the same restrictions, because it’s such an enjoyable thing.

Hi Ash, good morning. As a chill F2P, the video impacted me a lot. What he has achieved is amazing, the champions he has, all the fusions, legendary and mythical books... But, I remember started that way but I got tired in 3 weeks, and I can tell you that adapting my personal life to one game was not pleasant and the hours I had to spend on the computer for my work and the game saturated me. Ash, don't let it affect you so much because, would you leave your favorite champions in the box and raise them just for a few points to be more efficient? Just accept tips from others and enjoy the game as you like.

You lose about 480 energy per day if capped. 3360/wk or about $15 per week, $780 per year. Its a gigantic pain and the cap should be raised to 150-200 imo. But its a ton of value if not wanting to spend. The game is definitely more enjoyable when not constantly fighting for energy. Saving up 10-20k has its perks as well

Decision fatigue has been way more severe in these last few months. My own life doesn't throw so many choices at me in a week than this game does in a single day. I only do clan boss to keep the shard count in check, everything else OVERWHELMS me. I tried to rekindle that "first time" enjoyment many times and you would think it's easy to do but even creating a new game punishes you straight away with an unskipable exposition, unskipable tutorial that teaches you wrong basics and bulshit missions you can't do retroactively or out of order that force you to continue making wrong decisions, all while wasting already scarce resources.

i see it in a different way. i work hard irl so i can be lazy in my games. that doesnt mean i wanna be spending money in the game all the time. i want to enjoy the game im playing for free or for a box price. these mobile games just let u skip everything with money. i also see it as spending money is being softcore while not spending money is hardcore. cause if u lose a battle, u can just spend money to get pass it. and if u dont allow urself to spend money, then u have to read, do ur research and spend a lot of time in the game. after years of playing many mobile games, ive learned most of them r the same, give us ur money and we will hold ur hand so u can finally stop waiting and progress. i dont like that so im going back to the game like satisfactory, vampire survivors, BG3. games that dont want my continuous money. im still playing summoners war f2p (8years) but its not the same since im finally in the early stages of late game.

I am playing almost as F2P (except of buying some Forge Passes) on my 2.5 years old account and i can easily make 700k+ every PR CvC, 2.5-3kkk score on hydra tournament, i am not skipping any fusion, and most of the time getting last rewards from path events. There is no reason to spend more you just need to pay more attention to what are you doing and manage your resources properly!
