Imo I think pointing out that fact as early as now isn’t necessary. Sure, Reiner said that line but there was no context behind it. Hating them (Reiner, Bertholt, Annie & the titans) was and is supposed to be the knee-jerk reaction. All you know after all is Eren’s side. That’s the whole point of the storytelling. Empathizing with Reiner and Bertholt comes much much later. Can’t wait to see how they react when they feel and realize that by themselves.

Who says it's normal to NOT process this information? I literally focused on every single word they said after the reveal, and had figured out that they were children when they attacked before he even mentioned it. They literally give you all the info you need to piece it together even before he says it, and then in the admission of his regret they give you enough to empathize with them, they literally spell out their ignorance when they first attacked and Reiner wasn't part of the second attack since Bertholt was the one who broke the gate and is a quiet character so its harder to empathize. What I'm trying to say is that the show gives you enough to come to these conclusions and have planted enough seeds for us to wonder WHY Reiner would do this, since he had been spoken of as a big brother and someone to be admired from the very beginning, and we had already seen him be heroic in plenty of situations beforehand, if anything I'd argue he is MORE sympathetic at this point than later on when you gain more reasons to despise them.

i remember the first time i watched this episode. i missed reading one of the subs. the one where reiner says they're the armored and colossal titans. i saw "5 years ago we attacked wall maria ... " and the "our goal was the eradication of humanity ... ", and with that flashback i knew they were titans, but didn't know exactly who. so i was triple dumbfounded when they transformed and i saw exactly which titans they were: "holy shit, its the damn 2 big guys".

I remember the line from Bertholdt: "In the past Reiner was more like a warior.". ;) 2) 7:50 And that is the moment of WTF! XD 3) 12:00 This is just peak of cinematography! I can see that Reiner and Bertholdt are on different side of Wall then Eren. XD 4) 14:55 Even in that moment when they helped Eren became a soldier- they were humanity biggest enemies all along!
