With Alhaitham on the party now, we can build a juice hyperbloom team and take on the Spiral Abyss... right?
Wrong.
The plan was speedrun Lantern Wrong (Rite) for C2 Xingqiu, then absolutely curb-stomp the Spiral Abyss. Though I think we were the one getting curb-stomped.
Swords Only in Genshin Impact can be quite challenging at times. However, as the self-proclaimed master of "Weapon" Only challenges in this game, I am able to best any obstacle (probably).
HoYoVerse put out a tweet saying "Polearm Impact"... So I decided to take it upon myself to make a new account, but only use characters who wield a sword because absolutely nobody asked me to.

For the freeze team, Layla is infinitely better than Bennett. Sure Bennett’s attack buff is great but it won’t matter much if Ayaka’s burst keeps missing because pyro gets rid of freeze. Also two Ayaka bursts without Bennett buff is better than one Ayaka burst with Bennett buff, because Ayaka would not be able to burst frequently without a battery like Layla. Also, cryo resonance is really good. Layla is also probably the best user of tenacity of the mileleth. You just need to make sure Layla’s shield is strong enough to tank most hits (build her triple hp, level her up, and level her e talent) and you should be good

@@dominosquash She is literally the best user of it though 1- She scales with HP 2- Her e hits enemies regularly if you build her well 3- Kuki doesn’t make use of the shield strength 4- Kuki is way better with gilded dreams or flowers of paradise lost The only argument you could have is Zhongli using it better but sometimes his e misses so technically Layla still uses it to its full extent more

Adding to that, if you use Favonius Sword with Layla you can have both full shield AND burst uptime, helping you easily proc Tenacity's buff every 3 seconds.

I know Nilou's blooms are enhanced but Ayaka generally works better with an AOE hydro applier, since freeze only affects enemies you will usually see in crowds while you'll usually want heavy single-target DPS for bosses that can't be frozen. It's why Xingqiu/Yelan is usually used on nationals (which are actually great AOE teams too, nationals just do absolutely everything well) while Kokomi is favoured for Ayaka by people who have both.

For that ayaka team, you can use 4pc tenacity on that Layla. You’ll get less, but similar atk increase and cryo resonance. Imo negating dmg entirely is better than taking dmg and healing it back. Good video as always 😅

+ Bennet needs his burst (60 energy cost) to give atk buff and proc noblesse while Layla scales on HP and isn't as energy hungry. She can also proc 4pc ToM without needing any ER + she can use fav to give energy to the whole team. Layla is infinitely better.

You should definitely level up to lv4 all artifacts that have at least 1 crit roll just to see the 4th stat. I goy most of my best artifacts this way

you can also infinitely feed lvl 4 artifacts into each other without lost xp (as in, if you feed a +4 artifact into a +0, it’ll always go to +4 despite the diminishing returns you usually get. dunno why, but it happens)

I have an idea, hear me out. Aranyaka Sub-A-Thon. Start with a timer of like, an hour and extend the timer for each sub you get while you do Aranyaka on Swords Only, Spells Only, and the Main (JavaLocke can be excluded). Pick the one you start on with a vote, but have a way where someone can (by giving you money) force you to change which account you're playing on the spot. Stream ends when time runs out, and subs will stop adding time if Aranyaka is cleared on all three accounts before the stream is over.

A tip I have for monolith floors: Always charge all your character’s bursts before killing the last enemy, since you have no timer it should be easy to do without wasting time. It’s made the second chambers a lot easier, especially when there was oceanid enemies. also I agree, second half of 11-3 is a nightmare. hoping the next time it changes, it isn’t a DPS check.

Hey java, idk if you maybe already have it, if you do ignore this, but the new craftable sword from sumeru is amazing on dendro traveler as support. It drops little leafs that increase EM for the character picking them up. Only downside is you would have to go through aranyaka quest again to get it 💀

I just watched a tutorial how to clear abyss 36 stars, and they recommended to focus on the 12th floor chamber 3 first. Prepare the best team fro it, and all other chambers don't really matter, we just need to go through them and prepare bursts for the third one. After we clear 3 start 3 chamber, we can restart and focus on the second chamber (after clearing it we even don't need to do 3rd chamber anymore, as we already have 3 stars there)

java, to increase the hyperbloom damage i would suggest you to level 90 kuki since the damage boost from lvl 80 to lvl 90 is quite significant. i tried doing a comparison before i upgraded my lvl 80 kuki to lvl 90. before, the hyperbloom did around 20k. meanwhile, kuki at lvl 90 (with 850 elemental mastery) boosts the hyperbloom damage by ~13k, in total she did around 30-33k! hope this helps :>>>

to be perfectly honest, your characters aren't the problem, even if they are a little underinvested. your main problem is artifacts, if you just farm artifacts for like months youll get drastic improvement. it sucks but thats what ive been doing and it helps so much. (also your artifact expectations are way too high)

Yeah he's spreading his resources very thin instead of focusing on a single character and their supports for a while, which would drastically improve abyss performance, too. But then again, seeing new characters and building them is part of what keeps this series popular, so it's kinda hard for him to farm for a few months for the same unit

i agree in some ways; if he’s farming to get fodder to level his decent artifacts, that would be really helpful. less so with just general upgrades like the other person said, he’s spreading his resources too thin and should focus on some in particular. before he goes into artifact farming aka rng hell, he’ll do much better if he can get the guaranteed upgrades. getting weapons and talents up as high as possible, for one. then levels. the likelihood of getting a significant improvement with artifacts is very low, whereas with talents it can be guaranteed. (and it’s also less painful) even just getting a good mainstat leveled up to +20 is a significant boost, so getting more fodder for artifacts is definitely beneficial, but as for continuously farming for months just for an improvement… could be much better spent elsewhere. he’s not at the stage where he can be really picky with substats. getting a full mainstat is important for now (though i’d still go weapons first, esp since they can be swapped around) but yeah, like you said, even just farming artifacts, regardless of what he gets, is beneficial for feeding and getting up those main stats, especially when it comes to stats like ER

@@jaded_tofu he definitely is doing that too. he does episodes for each character and stuff and that is definitely entertaining but now that i know abyss is his goal i feel like he can't just do one singular episode and say "okay that characters done now!", he has to devote at least a couple weeks' worth of farming for each character and that is excluding artifacts, thats just talents and ascension and weapon. personally i do think 70/80 is fine for most characters who dont want EM, but his talents should probably be way higher. anyway, i dont think his builds outside of artifacts are bad but his artifacts kill me slowly every time he throws one away bc its mid even if its still usable.

It's sort of interesting - two other "[weapon] only" series I watch just recently 36 starred abyss in the most recent rotation, being polearms and catalysts. This challenge started first and has more "meta" characters (Bennett, Kazuha, Xingqiu, Ayaka etc), and yet Java isn't even close. And I'm not trying to be mean! Like the reason Java can't is because he's juggling so many accounts and (quite understandably) isn't endlessly farming for artifacts/talents. Plus, there's something to be said about there being more sword characters meaning that fewer resources can be spent on individual characters. I'm glad there's still challenge to be had in this series :))

Hey Java, if you want more team suggestions, I suggest running Keqing, Kuki, Dendro Traveller, Kazuha It's an incredibly strong team and, before Nahida, it was the best aggravate team if Kuki was swapped with Fischl But Kuki is still a really good unit for this team due to her Electro application and healing in general So if you want easier time or a new team to mess around with, I recommend this team greatly!

I've been trying something like this myself, except with sucrose since I don't have kazuha. Really really makes keqing shine in a way she hasn't for so long. Kuki can even be built with EM and crit for her burst, as well as her healing. Your AlHaith team seems to be good as well! I will say, as someone who just 9 starred the 11th floor but struggles to ever do floor 12, the same freeze team keeps helping me through the 2nd half of every new abyss..... it's like freeze is permanently needed on the second half to actually get me through

By the way for hyperbloom only kuki shinobu EM counts so you can build Al as a dps and traveler too, you can give them less EM since they're not triggering spread but just bloom and then kuki hyperblooms it

actually he gets plenty of quicken and spread reactions since its more of a quickbloom team (not enough hydro application for the amount of dendro he applies), so he should stay around 200-300 EM for these quicken and spread reactions. also alhaitham scales off EM with his A4.
