Great exercise 👍🏽 I painted chickens with pinks & purples as an exercise to loosen up from my my hyperrealistic autism pressure that blocks my creativity. They turned out Devine. Art 🎨 is freedom from RULES. All the masters followed no rules and cut loose on their canvases or whatever. Basquiat, Van Gogh, Picasso, Modigliani, Warhol etc We need more such videos. Blessings from across the pond 😊

Brilliant use of colour relativity, I do think your colour choices were astute, rather than random but certainly value is the keystone of a compositional architecture. Really well done, love how your purples shift that red to the yellow so it really does read as grass, far more convincing than just wacking down a green!

Yeah, but if you turn your image to BW , it does not work. You will have two darker blobs on each side and nothing that connects them. What about making some statement by putting reflection into the water and un-clutter the foreground where the orange grasses are to build some contrast in the first plane? Or you can practise more monochromatic studies, just with one color and see what you can do. You mentioned the values, demonstrated iton the painting, and then forgot (amost) everything when you came to your part.
