Something pretty vool happens with it when you add it to alcohol. It doesn't absorb alcohol, so it will pull more water out of it and leave you with a higher percentage alcohol.

They used to sell it as "instant snow" at mall kiosks. My middle son wanted it SO SO badly and threw a fit over it. (he's on the spectrum and got hyper fixated on things) it was expensive as hell, but we got ot for him for Christmas where he realized it wasn't actual snow (we lived on Arizona at the time and he desperately wanted to see real snow). My husband, the freaking *CHEMIST*, then identified what it was and said it was and mentioned we could have got it 2000x times cheaper about anywhere else. (Thank you for the info, Bryan, but you were just a *teensy, tiny bit late with that breaking news flash Those thousandsof dollars of college debt we took on FINALLY paid off*) Anyway, it got all into the carpet and being a weird wet year in Tucson that particular winter and spring, I swear God I didn't get it out of the carpet till June.

@@Hylianmonkeys If I recall right, add a LOT of salt, and the water dissolves it. The brine will now separate from the alcohol. It's a trick I would only use for Fuel or Chemical uses, not beverages, might make them taste funny. Test it before you trust it with your life. When it comes to beverages, I buy mine. I do NOT trust my attention to detail any more, and a bad brew can be fatal. Anything I distill is denatured at the Beer stage, by the simple expedient of adding a gallon of gasoline to 100 gallons of Mash.

They are still less polar than water and acetone even lacks an accessible partial positive charge. You can dissolve around 300g of NaCl in water but not even a tenth of that in methanol (CH3OH) which just has an H replaced with a methyl group compared to water
