Thanks! I do feel like I’m getting a lot better, it’s been cool. I’ve always been a pretty solid teacher, but doing things through KZbin takes such a different skill set. i’m used to being a lot more conversational when teaching music, but presenting on KZbin is getting a lot more natural at this point. The general concept does, just when you’re playing with a Blues, you also need to be aware how your playing is matching the chords. Usually this would apply to whatever riff you decided to play in the beginning. However, there are no harsh rules in music, and you can follow this strictly and it would still work in most cases, because you are playing in a key that matches the music, regardless of how well you are tracking the chords. If it sounds good, that’s all you need. The advanced version of this is that during every section of a song, you would go through this process over again. Also, every time the song repeats is a chance to keep enhancing and developing your riffs, and then leaving again to solo. If you get bored, create another riff to start working on.
