This stuff is incredible! I will say that no matter how "stereotypical post-rock" they were with Young Mountain and (somewhat) on their Self-Titled, there has always been something incredible with what they've written that takesw it beyond the stereotype. Now this new stuff off Tunnel Blanket, it's other-worldly. Glad to be seeing them making the music they've always wanted to achieve and taking things to the next level!

Yeah, seeing this live guys. Right there in front of the speakers, pedals, sweat and noise.

I like that it's so quiet in the beginning, that you can hear something being dropped and in the end everything just explodes.

totally agree. The live versions of both Black Dunes and Little Smoke sound so much better than the album versions. It's kind of a shame.

@NinjaPowerfist couldnt have said it any better. this is one band that is really good live. despite problems with their pedals in-between songs, they pull it off by creating sounds that are real eriee like while switching modes or somthin idk. idk how they do it but hey they are pretty good at what they do.

@mayorsoffice actually, they never liked being likened to post - rock. They've always wanted to make ambient / doom metal style music. This is why the change.

@thomo188813 жыл бұрын
It's good that TWDY have opted for a sort of ambient/drone/post rock combination. The post rock genre is starting to get stale as of late in my opinion. This is a breath of fresh air and also probably my favourite off tunnel blanket.

I'm a big fan of post-rock, including bands such as Sigur Ros, GYBE, EitS, American Dollar, etc. along with some of this band's other songs, but I think if we're honest with ourselves we must admit that this isn't the best the genre has to offer. It's just two guitarists and a bassist making noise (artistic noise or otherwise) to a driving drum beat, with no melody whatsoever, and there really isn't even much progression in the song. I just don't get why this is the highest-rated on this channel
@c31202200013 жыл бұрын
to me, this is doom metal, and they really started to "destroy"
@mayorsoffice13 жыл бұрын
From threads and The World is our to this? Not saying its bad but why did they change there is nothing to the song except the symbol crashing and then its drops off I feel like this should be there first album the ones before this are so much better its almost deppressing. Someone please explain the mindset of this band I listened to the first to CDs almost every day I can't even listen to one whole song off of this.
@ShadyRonin3 жыл бұрын
Curious, ten years later, has your opinion changed? I also found this album jarring the first time I heard it, but after seeing them perform this song live it all made sense to me. It put me in a trance during the show and felt like they had even transcended their old material to a new dimension. The album grew on me and now I would say it’s one of the most unique albums I’ve ever heard.

jesus, this and communal blood are so good but sad sounding.
@rymcmanus13 жыл бұрын
@rymcmanus I mean, if we're waiting for four, five, six minutes, the least that should happen is some kind of melody and/or harmony. but it's essentially a giant crescendo that leads to nothing, which is imo boring and not too original. Threads is a much better song by them.
