@roetemeteor2 ай бұрын
@@consume6757 Actually, it's quite literal here. These people figured out a algorithmic error in a certain lottery where mass buying tickets actually brought back more than your initial investment. For example, you buy 8000 dollars worth of tickets, you win 17,000. It was literally impossible to lose money with that particular lottery they figured it out with if you bought en masse. This was figured out by a mathematician. It's also based on a real story, apparently.

This was a neat movie based on a true story. It's called Jerry & Marge Go Large, and it's about an IRL couple who took advantage with a flaw in a lottery game in Michigan and Massachusetts that allowed them to win a lot of money every week by buying mass amounts of tickets when the jackpot is a certain amount.
@swiimports5210Ай бұрын
We worked it out years ago,( so not quite sure remembering the actual amount) that to win the lotto it cost something like 20 million for every combo ticket. ( a smaller lottery in Australia) so when the prize was 30mil, you'd win 10mil clear....BUT, the problem would be if someone else won it too
@diamondjim7560Ай бұрын
@@swiimports5210Back in the 1990’s an Australian business broker gathered a decent number of investors to come up with seven million US dollars (or the Aussie dollar with exchange rate). He figured that seven million $1 lottery tickets in the Virginia Lottery would guarantee the $21 million jackpot with all the number combinations. This was based upon the fact that the game in Virginia only needed six numbers. The chances of winning was 1 in 7 million. This was before Virginia joined the multi-state lotteries. He hired a number of people to purchase tickets and they swamped the various places where tickets are sold. Eventually the Lottery Commission called a halt to onsite massive purchases. In the end he was able to win not just the top prize but also the lower prizes for the partial numbers. His investors did well. The real kicker was since the winner was a foreigner neither the US nor Virginia government got any tax money. Since then the major lotteries are multi-state with a seven number winning lottery number making the odds astronomical. Also mass purchases at one time are restricted.

Something similar also happened here, in Vietnam. Realizing a divorce is unavoidable with what his wife is doing, he spent every dime of his own stuff to buy Bitcoin. Now here's the thing. Vietnam hasn't officially legalize Bitcoin as property or currency yet, so basically the husband got away from a bad relationship with pretty much everything that he owns, without losing too much to his wife. The whole country was shocked for a few days, because of how well he use that loophole.

@@zir456 Not even close 💀 Because it's not easy and would take a lot to change the law. Would take another few years before they legalize it to become legal property. Right now Bitcoin is not considered property, but more like . . . legal source of income? It's hard to explain.
