That's really something most women can't understand. Men can just go and think about nothing at all and in my experience this is something unthinkable (pun) to women. I don't know why, but it seems it's just the way it is. I even remember an episode of Seinfeld about this 😂 Anyway I'll save this little interval thing for when it's too crappy to do my hill speed sessions; thanks for reminding me about it 🤓
@5654-b9o4 ай бұрын
@@Th3UprightMan I think that's a weird take, has nothing to do with gender. If you're running fast, you're just focusing on getting done with the interval. I think all the time when I go for an easy run

That bit about running with people, I second that! I'm an introvert, I feel bad, nervous and/or angry when in a crowd. I've been running 5k for a year and a half, 3 times a week solo in the evening. I felt quite good about my pace and I thought about a competition. I've ran a half marathon relay race. The time was bad, I was exhausted, it completely killed my motivation. Now, few years later, I've found about a local parkrun group. I didn't know anybody there but that was the good point. I don't know them, they don't know me. They don't care how slow I am. But running with other people changed running for me. I have a strongly competitive mindset. Running with others gave me a good benchmark on where I am now and where I can be. After few runs I had a good sense of other runners' pace so I could try chasing the rabbit, that one person who I thought is in my reach. Half a year later I am healthier, my hips and knees stopped to hurt, I run 5k without a problem, my time got from 30 to sub 25 minutes, I've comfortably run my first half marathon (full distance, not a relay this time) and I got to know a lot of good people. So yeah, definitely running with other people can be very helpful, as long as you can find a bunch of good, cheerful people who won't judge you for being slow but cheer for you showing up every week.

Go Tom! Be patient, consistent and kind to yourself and your body. Let your whole system make those adaptations as it absorbs the training, don't push too hard. I came from plus 60 10k races 13 years ago and now average around 40min. Lots of ups and downs along the way, but am still loving the journey and sense of health and fitness it's given me. It will be hard work at times, but it should also be lots of fun and fulfilling more often than not. Good luck again, you're going to reach a lot of people on this series, and we're really rooting for you!

Great video and looks like a great workout. One question - when you say “at 10k pace” and “at 5k pace” - presumably the 10k pace is your target 10k pace? And the 5k pace - is that your achieved 5k pace, or an aspirational one?

Great workout from Jess & Tom, but there is one thing that you don’t say in this video and other PB workouts you’ve show. 1. How many times a week you should incorporate the workout. 2. How many weeks roughly you should do the workout before implementing it into the desired race. ie: 5k or 10K race. Love the content as ever. Keep up the great work and videos.

I'm in the middle of a training block so I substituted my 8x800 threshld workout with this one today. It's a tougher than expected workout. The first set was fine. The second was tough. My targets were 10k time for the 2k, and faster than 5k time for the 400m. I think it's a solid workout for either 5k or 10k training and plan to use it again in a few weeks.
