Front rank Orphan is currently the most fun way of playing Runaway.

I got to act 5 for the first time the other day and didn't understand you needed to kill the angels to deal dmg to the final boss. They kept respawning instantly so I thought it was an immortal minions kinda deal. Lasted to round 55... just did a rerun yesterday and finished the game! Anyways, do you think you could take on the final boss without the 200 dmg mechanic ? I reached half HP, so it must be possible.

I am all for reworks I just wish some stayed a bit like crusader. Crusader still does lots of things, you press most of his buttons, and his paths are different, but it's not all duelist like set up like a lot of the reworks lol
@RanVor9 күн бұрын
"A lot of the reworks" you mean Jester, right? Because Jester is the only reworked hero whose paths require any meaningful level of setup, and you don't even need to bother with any of it if you don't want to. You're blowing this whole issue way out of proportion. None of the new paths are even remotely close to the level of complexity Duelist has.

@@tomboyforever7202 I said MEANINGFUL level of setup. As in, you need to actually anticipate what's going to happen before your next turn. A lot of MAA's moves generate block already, so just put on a block-generating trinket or press Stand Fast once in a while and you're good to go. You don't need any more than that. Meanwhile, accruing Vanguard buffs is entirely automatic and you don't need to think about it AT ALL. Aggressor Crusader is way more involved than that, and I don't see anyone crying about it. You don't have to like the new Jester and MAA paths. I'm not a fan of some of them myself. But don't compare them to Duelist and expect me to take you seriously.
@tomboyforever72027 күн бұрын
@@RanVor @RanVor no need to take me seriously. The thing about bulwark is that you not only play stand fast you also gotta try that he doesn't get attacked so that he actually has enough block tokens a lot of the time. You also have 'set him up' on rank 2, at least for the second time you play it (hold the line, rampart seems weaker most of the time). It is more involved and weaker than aggressor. Sure vanguard doesn't count. Though a thought I have is that it has scaling which hasn't really existed in the game yet. It's not great because you mostly want damage fast, runs already go on long enough. How do you feel about the jester changes? Specifically virtuoso. How is duelist that complex? Honestly. I've mostly played antagoniste, and yeah decisions with it do require more consideration but not like iq 200 or something. You can mostly use meditation touche and fleche. Intrepide seems like garbage and instructice just kinda ok but still not complicated.
@RanVor7 күн бұрын
@tomboyforever7202 *takes a deep breath and smiles* Okay. 1. Virtuoso? Love him. Played a buffs-only Virtuoso the other day, it was the most fun I've had playing Jester ever. In either game. Soloist is more disappointing in comparison. It's functional and decently fun, but it's just so easy to imagine how it could be better. Haven't tested Mezzo yet, but from reading the skills, it seems basically the same as Wanderer, just with a lot more RNG. 2. There are ways to keep the heat off of Bulwark and reset him to his preferred position. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you already know them. Either way, that's not setup, just basic team functionality. Things you take into account when putting together a team. Playing the game 101. And really, even if you do get hit, is spending a turn doing something else instead of attacking really that big of a deal? Also, I don't understand what your problem with Rampart is. The ability to punch a frontliner into rank 4 and pin them there is pretty useful in a lot of situations. As for whether Aggressor is stronger than Bulwark or not, I don't know, and I don't care. Making comparisons like that is for people who hate fun. But I certainly don't agree that Aggressor is less involved. That path is clunky as all hell. 3. If you know that Vanguard doesn't count, why do you bring him up? 4. How is Duelist complicated? Well, that's an unexpected question for sure. Generally, even hardcore Sahar stans agree that she has an extremely steep learning curve. But as you wish. The most important thing when it comes to the Duelist's complexity is that your stance governs your everything. All skills have different effects depending on which stance you're currently in, which translates to not only cognitive load - as you have effectively twice as many skills to keep in mind - but also that you can only access half of them at any given time. Very often, you're required to switch your stance - and occasionally your position - in order to access the effect you need right now. You always need to account for 1-2 turn delay whenever you find needing to use a different skill than you prepared for. As a result, you have to be extremely good at anticipating what skills you're going to need use 1-2 turns in the future in order to play Duelist effectively. Is this explanation satisfactory? As for why, in my opinion, Duelist is not comparable to other heroes with setup abilities, that's simple: for Sahar, it's not just one or two strong attack skills that need setting up - it's every. Single. Skill. Every skill in Duelist's kit either requires setup, sets up something else, or both. It's a headache and a half to keep up with. Jester and MAA are both kindergarten level in comparison.

Something annoying That I noticed is this competitive attitude when it comes to classes and class balance People are treating DD2 like a fighting game and not as a single player rpg, and misunderstanding that balance should work for the class’s design and not the other way around One of my favorite classes is the antiquarian, mainly because how she was deliberately designed to be weak with very specific strengths
