This was lovely to see. I had an ancestor who was the mother of Samuel Adams, cousin to these Adames. I would like to see Samuel Adams home in Boston.

I have been reading the book about President Adams by David McCullough so I was surprised when I clicked on this particular episode of THIS HOUSE that it concerned one of his homes! I enjoy THIS HOUSE SO much! I am a particular admirer of both John and Abigail Adams, this episode was a delight for me. THANK YOU!😊

Marvelous house fortunately beautifully maintained by the National Park Service. Places like this are our national heritage. I particularly liked the dining room.

I was going to say that you didn't include the library, but then I remembered that it was constructed by J. Q. Adams' son Charles Francis and so would not really fit the timeframe of this video. Excellent video. Please also do a video on the two earlier Adams family homes in Quincy, MA.

I've toured this home and property many times.. and can tell you, it's like walking through a time portal. The home is stunning, as is the Stone Library - a monument to the forward thinking of The Adams with regard to their legacy and place in history. Both John and Abigail were light years ahead of their time, both in their their relationship, as well as their philosophies and management styles. If ever in the south Boston area... do yourself a favor and see The Old House at Peace field.

Beautiful home. I always love to hear about Abigail Adams. It is hard to choose a favorite room, but for me, it's a toss-up between the study and the maid's room. Thanks again for a most enjoyable tour of an old house.😊

I loved this place. I wished I wasn't herded along. I really wanted to take my time. I have a soft spot for John Adams and being in his home was very moving for me. The westeria...and the stone library...I wanted to read all the titles!!!

This is such a beautiful home and Peacefield is so exquisite. I'm concerned that newer generations today do not care or even know about John & Abigail Adams, and the political philosopher that John was and what he, and the rest of our forefathers did with declaring independence, the establishment of our rights and liberties. This history is not even being taught in schools hardly. I wonder how much more they will be remembered or forgotten 50 years from now. I hope these places remain protected and standing forever so that those in the future will have an opportunity to visit should thry care to, and hopefully they do.

I visited all three of the Adams residences in Quincy (Braintree) a few years back. I also got to see the crypt beneath the church the Adamses attended. John Abagail, John Quincy, and his wife were all buried there. What made the tour special is that it happened on July 4th...the anniversary of John Adams' and Thomas Jefferson's death.

This home, in Quincy, MA represents four generations of the Adams Family. John and Abigail are the only occupants to live here year round. Others only lived here in the spring and summer. The home was called the Old House by the third generation starting with Charles Francis Adams. He built a more modern home just up the street on Presidents Lane, so for him Peace field became "the Old House". Subsequent generations continued the tradition of calling the home "the Old House".

@@barbarak2836 I'm not offended. I am stating a fact that there are many kinds of enslavements. The rich enslave the poor because they can. GM and Ford motor company enslave citizens because they're stupid. A 5,000 truck for 90,000 is stupid. To allow Walmart to continue to raise prices is beyond stupid. To allow Lowes and Home Depot to sell a 99 cent 2 by 4 for 6.00 it insane.

The added paneled room is to my liking….and the Maids bedroom with the corner fireplace. The rest of the house is awful. That wallpaper in the front hall is hideous. Those busts are why to big for where they are…and they look like plaster…a no no. The President’s bed is very well dressed in damask, it’s A+. However, the room is drab, and the wallpaper needs to go. The furniture to to mix-match. The French pieces are pretentious and do not go with the colonial house. I do not believe they are are old. The house looks like it’s been refilled with second and third rate pieces. The painting may well be original, but none stand out as exceptional.
@lindaastorquincyadams7712 Жыл бұрын
The furniture, European in the long room was purchased at wholesale by John Adams when he was a diplomat. They are VERY old. The house kept getting built onto and thereby crossed various Eras...the furniture is Their TASTE. John Adams was a President but They all were diplomats, the furniture in the house suits Their travels. THOSE SECOND AND THIRD RATE PIECES came from English and French Nobility Country homes and a few pieces from Palaces. The paneled room was the original dining room and after Brooks Adams and his Wife came to live there they made a small dining room, the Room with John Adams portrait above the fireplace. The paneled room later was used for Afternoon Teas and gatherings.

I am bias towards the Adams....John, Abigail and John Quincy. They are my favorite Presidents. Abigail doubled the house size while over seas and surprised John. Unfortunately she became ill after arriving home. She recovered but was never as healthy.
