Or more with the producers of the representation, like the choreographed and scripted fashion statements of Critical Role "ambassadors" or the marketing departments and demographics experts which replaced most of the game designers, or the cosplay wearers which don't actually play the game, or the Dungeon Masters who can't keep a campaign running for longer than three sessions... or only with a skinsuit instead of what actually makes D&D different and enduring the concept of customer bases actually being only elements of corporate models for planned obsolescence... ? It's interesting to see what is, to me as an American, a "new crop" of voice actors. We're pretty spoiled on this side of the pond with the likes of Jen Hale and Troy Baker, the Critical Role folks, Tara Strong, etc., but we usually only get the occasional Brit. Going through BG3, the two or three times I heard an American accent was noticeable, and I don't there was one until I ran into Ketheric. I'm glad the UK has its own batch of all-stars. Maybe it's just the games I play.

Having the side quests be equally as voiced has more value to me as a gamer than any amount of extra non-game content to spend extra money on.

@@HanakoSeishin That's much less of a Japanese business practice as it is for budgeting and timing reasons and it's not specific to main story quests. Larian were thankfully able to have the extra money and time for this game to be a true masterpiece and am I glad they did. Good seiyuus/VAs are expensive and rightly so with how great they are. Take FFXIV or NieR Replicant v1.22 after the success of Automata... there's a lot more VA work going into the games for English and Japanese than just main story quests. Much of the side content gets what it can, but past that point, they have to make do given the deadlines especially when you factor in localisation to every language they choose to cover. That further magnifies the cost and time to be taken, all while having to please board members. Members of Creative Business Unit III have talked about this in the past, especially Yoshida and Koji. But it applies to more than just SE. Studios generally would love to have as much quality VA work as they could to make their games more immersive and of creative value, but often we see they settle for short soundbites, like giggles and singleton words, for what ends up being pages of text.

It's always a bit of a learning curve, and the PS5 controls are confusing. Firstly, I love this. I love how involved you and the rest of the cast are with this game's community, it's genuinely incredible. Secondly, and I hate to be the stereotypical PC Bro but damn, get a PC and play it on there - it's so much easier to do things like streaming. The initial setup may be more complex but once it's working, it'll keep working - and you can have two screens so chat and camera on one screen with the game on the other. Possibly slightly late advice but that's what I'm best at!

I've watched a few interviews. Neil (Astarion) is a D&D oldhead, and figured out it had to be the sequel to Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, from the names of the races. Dev (Lae'zel) and Jennifer (Shaadowheart) had no idea. Dev in particular thought if she nailed the audition, she'd get a few NPCs to voice. It was her first time ever on a game.
