I'm from Butte County in Nor Cal. People have always grown here in the mountain communities. Normal people that respect and help each other. People with families and jobs and nicely kept properties. We preserve the land not ruin it. In the last 10 years cartel grows have made our communities increasingly unsafe. Each summer our communities are flooded with assholes from out of the area that don't care about anything. They run us off the roads. Excessive gun shots at night. Multiple unsolved missing people. Just never seen again.

I feel like the interviewer let the interviewee just ramble most the time and did very little to reign him in and keep him focused and on track- I have so many questions and there were so many that are left on the table that were hardly tapped- it almost seems like maybe they haven’t even asked them? Like- who are the Chinese migrants? We call them gangs, they are in a technical sense- but are these opportunistic migrants, are they part of a Chinese gang in china, are they farmers who’ve been trafficked on behalf of a gang, do they come from all over the mainland or are they all local to one place? Are they having kids here? Are they setting up with families or do they come for a few months, do their work, and make their way back to china? There are so many explanations for how they got here, what their intentions are here, are these intentions being done on behalf of a greater criminal network or are they doe for individual reasons ? There are no hard answers to this and we barely even asked the question. I like that the conversation is here and started- but if we are going to be putting task forces onto this stuff at the expense of the tax payer- we should be gaining significantly more info than what’s available here.
