Many years I was the school dentist and my patch covered the Inner Hebrides and Inverie. Normally I would take a boat but I decided it would be more fun to walk in to inverie. So with dental equipment in the rucksack, I walked in on Sunday , camped and turned up at the school to everyone's' surprise. Not only did I see the kids but a number of adults turned up as well. Pulling teeth in someone's kitchen was a new experience. Job done and then a long walk out. No time to visit the pub but a very memorable couple of days.

Great video! Interesting route in from the end of that road. My hiking partner and I opted to hike 3 days one way into Inverie from Glenfinnan. There was considerably more climbing - 800m Day 1, 370m Day 2, and 775m on Day 3 getting into Inverie. There's an old rail sleeper car in Glenfinnan that was very quaint where we stayed before heading out the following morning. Some local spots to check out (Jacobite Monument, Glenfinnan viaduct (though you would hike directly under this on route to Inverie) and he Glenfinnan House Hotel (wonderful meals). In the end we opted to take the ferry back to Mallaig, and rail back to Glasgow before flying home to Canada after a couple nights. The Old Forge was an unreal experience on our last night in Inverie. Friends we made at the Bunkhouse ended up getting engaged on the makeshift dancefloor in the pub, dancing to live music played by 9 musicians who sailed in on a tall ship. Definitely looking to make this hike at least once more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Sitting at home off work with a terrible cold, it made me happy seeing you men hiking through Scotland to get to a pub. It brought back a fantastic hike I did many years ago with my wife and my sister, an expert mountaineer who has done most of the Munroes. We caught the train from Edinburg up to Kingussie in the Cairn Gorms. Then we just walked up into the mountains for 3 days, camping out in the wild. We didn't see another human being for the entire time. I miss the Highlands!

@alternativeglastoАй бұрын
@@dcharles1973 I have done it and Kinloch Hourn is indeed the starting point, it's at the end of the longest cul de sac in the UK. We went the hard way though, camped at Barrisdale then ascended Ladhar Bheinn and went to Inverie via the peaks. Stayed overnight after a pint at the Old Forge then returned via the much easier pass that they used.
