There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture.
@XxrazorxmintxX2 жыл бұрын
Yup. It’s kinda the equivalent “bon appetit” before a meal or telling someone “break a leg”. 열심히 하겠습니다 (I will work hard) as a greeting & 수고하셨습니다 (you worked hard) as the parting. A person might introduce themselves as “so and so from ___university, degree in x, I’ll work hard!” in everyday situations like new hire, or when you show up to volunteering, or even personal hobbies like meeting new members of your dance crew.

Here is a quote from the Rolling Stone interview about V being revealed as a member only at their debut: [V] was a “hidden member,” who didn’t appear on camera in the endless vlogs and other ingenious online promotion that preceded BTS’ debut in June 2013. “I actually can’t understand it whatsoever,” he says now, with a laugh. “Why did they do that? Why was that the concept? I really had no idea!” (Bang belatedly offers an answer: “We needed momentum to announce that the team called BTS was finally complete. V had great charms in terms of appearance and personality, so I thought it would be impactful when he was revealed last. It was an effective strategy in forming the team’s overall image, as well as leaving an impression of each member.”) When V said he'd been with the members for a long time, well, he auditioned in Daegu and passed and signed as a trainee with Big Hit. So when he came to Seoul, he then lived in the dorm and came to know other trainees, some of whom would eventually be selected along with him as actual members of BTS. So he'd known the other members and trained with them ever since he joined Big Hit.

BTS has left imprints on all the lives theyve touched. When i found them I was in a very dark place, debating if even living life was worth it. I couldnt remember the last time I had even smiled let alone laugh, and than I randomly found Rookie King on youtube and didnt even know who BTS was or that they were singers/rappers. All i remember is that they made me laugh. So i kept searching them and they kept making me smile, and slowly over years they helped me bring my life back together. I am not finished crawling out of that dark space but I am leaps and bounds better than I was before i found BTS. My struggle to see them perform was just awful, I couldnt financially attend when they did the love yourself tour, or the speak yourself stadium tour when they came close to me. I watched my MoTS tickets disappear, but the moment I saw sofi stadium, the moment I saw them, it was so insanely life changing. I firmly believe that it is true, you find BTS when you need them the most and I cannot imagine my life without them. I honestly cannot truly remember a single day in YEARS where I didnt mention them or watch some form of BTS content. They are my home, a place I feel comforted and safe.

Yes! This episode speaks to me…My son is preparing for college. He’s gotten into every school that everyone said was a reach. I encouraged him to choose his major and school based on what makes him happy…if you Choose only for money you may regret it cause u may be miserable doing it… what amazes me is the grandparents (mainly) who tell him “what kind of major is thAt? You should find out how to change that, that won’t be a good choice”….um says you! You don’t have to live with it and do it everyday so why should you tell him what to pick? I just don’t get that thinking. BTS has actually helped me to be more encouraging to him, and help him ignore these statements. It's the same way I remember Jin and V's birthdays. My birthday is 2 December, Jin's is 4 December, my mother's was 5 December. My uncle's birthday was 27 December, and V's is 30 December. It also makes me feel weirdly connected to them. Which I know is strange, but hey, it's the way I feel. (I mean I could add that Jimin's birthday October 13 is about when the doctor's were sure I'd be born (being due early November) instead I was induced a month late... But that's a whole other story). To be honest guys, this episode actually “opened my eyes” to understand what No More Dreams really meant for my husband’s younger sister. She was the one who introduced me to BTS back in ‘17-‘18 followed “her” and not “them” along the journey. I was open and I was interested and cared to wanting to know them so I can connect more with her since she was battling depression at such a young age (10-11). She had a mind of an adult tho. However, a year later, I ended up in the rabbit hole so I was excited to express to her that I really get her now. I asked what was her favorite song of theirs and her answer was NMD. I’m like oh okay… cool. That was it. I knew the jest of it but didn’t deep dive into it. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY SHE RESONATES SO WELL WITH THAT SONG!!! 🥺😭 She was under sooo much pressure for being one of the top students all of her life and probably was so confused and no one helped her… including me! And now she has hit rock bottom. I feel so torn… She is still battling with her emotions and probably with her identity as well. She has no motivation in studying or socializing anymore. She is a gamer and is always on her computer so unsure if it’s just a gaming phase. Idk. She’s in such a strange horrible place right now and I have no idea how to help her. If any of you experienced a teenager like this, please send your thoughts on this. I really want to reconnect and help her find her OWN DREAMS AND BE HAPPY ABOUT WHO SHES BECOMING. Thank you. 💜💜💜

The only advice I can give you is to take everything you wrote here & tell her. I was that anxious & depressed young girl once and now I'm an anxious & depressed 50+ year old woman. Almost no one in my life knew how to talk to me or what to say other than platitudes. The few adults I listened to most were the ones who spoke to me like I was also a human being. For too many people, child=stupid, so they talk at kids instead of demonstrating active listening. For someone so young, it may be that she'll grow & evolve away from what's distressing her now, but when you're in the middle of it, adults telling you that feels more like condescension than help. If you pay her the respect of acknowledging that what she's thinking & feeling is real and not, "just a phase," or, "growing pains," she may begin to trust you enough to open up. Try to meet her where she's at, try not to talk down to her or at her, ask her if she'd like to share her interests with you - BTS is a fantastic place to start.
@rosemarymillan58642 жыл бұрын
@@goreyfantod5213 thank you so much for your knowledge and advice! I will keep in mind to not say things like “it’s just a phase” and really acknowledge that what she’s feeling is real. I don’t want to dismiss that but at the same time I want to let her know that she’ll eventually find her strength to move on.

When you were talking about how people will question why you want that career path or put it down.. I couldn't relate to that more. When I was in high school I would get asked that question and I would only ever get "well what would you do with that" "you know that's really hard right" or "how would you make a career out of that" and this was from the teachers and my parents and older sisters. I literally had no support system. I graduated high school completely lost. I'm 33 now and I'm just now figuring out what I want to do. And the ONLY support system I've had is my boyfriend and his mom and grandma. I still to this day get from my parents "well how could you make a living off that"😖 I wish I had BTS earlier in my life but I'm forever grateful for finding them. I'm also happy I found you too. 25:35 this actually happened to me and of course I listened to my parents. I was 6 when I declared that I was going to be a performer. My parents HIGHLY discouraged it. They did everything to discourage me. It went even so far as when I said that "when I become a cheerleader in high school I will get to dance!" And my mom instantly said "there's nothing saying that you'll make the cheer team." I didn't understand. Then she explained that I would need to try-out to make the team. I was about 9 at the time and had played baseball, basketball, and soccer and never had to try-out to play the sport. I had to try-out to make the main team in baseball (my dad's team). I didn't make his team because I wasn't good enough, but I played on the minors team and was the pinch hitter, a switch hitter, left field, 3rd baseman, and occasionally the short stop. My brother made dad's team, but that's because he was awesome at sports. A natural left handed batter, pitcher, first base, and short stop. And he was incredibly fast. He would always beat me in a foot race by a second or two. I understood that as a girl, back then (70's) just playing baseball was unusual but we had many girls in my class that loved to play baseball. Softball wasn't a thing yet back then. Anyway, back to my long story, sorry, mom did something I think she was hoping would shoot me down and shut me up for good. She asked if I wanted to audition for a summer musical at the local community College. They needed 6 kids that can sing, dance, and act. I was so excited! I just knew I was going to get to be in the play. But I had never sang before. She took me to auditions, I did my best. I didn't get casted. But she wasn't expecting 2 things. When she asked if that was fun doing my best and not getting in... I said "yeah! That was awesome!" I had a smile on my face too. Then the choreographer came up to my mom and told her that she would like to teach me some dance. The choreographer said that I was naturally talented at dance and picked it up super fast. Mom instantly said no, we do not have the money for her to take dance. Internally I was heartbroken but didn't let it show. Then the lady said, "one month. Just one month of jazz class. I will only charge you $20 for 1 month." I could feel mom hesitate and secretly wish she didn't have to ask, but she asked if I wanted to go and I screamed YES! Her plans backfired. It didn't matter that I get rejected. I loved the process of auditioning. And I got a month's worth of jazz dance out of that audition. 😊 But then the psychological warfare started. Telling me that acting and performance was not a real job or a steady paycheck and they would not help me in any way if I pursued that. The only thing my parents were on board with was me becoming a classical musician. There's a whole other story to that, but I digress. Anyway, the point is, I hate to hear when parents discourage their kids from going after their passion and dreams. I'm 50 now and just starting my career in acting. I have a very long way to go. But I'm doing my best. Heck, I didn't even think I would get signed when I auditioned for a talent agency a year and a half ago. But got signed the next day. Sorry for the long ass comment. I don't know why I did that. Oh well, great video! Love all your stuff Roscoe! 💜

27:45 I agree 100% with you Roscoe…I’ve always been insecure and without dreams…always…but back in high school, when trying to figure out where to go next…I had so many conflicting messages coming in, it just got worse…I took the science route in secondary school because that’s the “realistic path”, the one which would secure me a job…by the end of it…because I hated it, my grades were so low I couldn’t choose any of the careers I might have enjoyed doing (psychology or computer science)…and became 100% convinced I was just a useless waste of space…my motivation just dwindled, my self esteem disappeared …tried different degrees and career paths, none seemed to work for me…now I’m 35, jobless, careerless and without motivation or self esteem…so yes, for me, trying to follow the “realistic path” never worked…and now I’m definitely a waste of space😅 but I hope maybe, with Bangtan’s inspiring personality and drive, I might find something someday…if not, it’s ok, at least I got to find them, cheer for them, meet really cool people, cheer for them too, and I got to enjoy BTS artistry.

Koreans, in general, are practically workaholics, being one of the top nations with the fewest hours of sleep. The expressions about working hard are used throughout the culture in everyday speech. My best guess is this stems from the huge economic growth after the Korean War that saw one of the poorest nations in the world become one of the most successful albeit through rather autocratic leadership up through the 80's. It was a decades-long concerted national effort to rebuild the country which they then put on display by holding the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. That hard-work mentality has permeated most areas of society over the generations and can be seen today in the ultra-competitive processes to go to university and to get a job. Of course, the legacy of Confusianism plays a big role as well. One example of daily use I can share is when I leave a shop, I always tell the shopkeeper, "Thank you for your hard work and effort" instead of saying goodbye.

i performed on stages since i was little. as soon as you make your first step on the stage, my nervous-face, that looked like i intended to murder someone, went away and no more thoughts. it was pure bliss and it is for so many overthinking folks. in real life, i was kinda quiet. on stage, i became a different person, a person i actually wanted to be and the person i used to be before i got seriously sick back then. bts is the only artist that makes me want to jump up there and dance with them. they remind me of the good times when i still actively danced, the feelings of being on stage. how are they doing that!? they helped me go from quiet and shy to a lioness that fears nobody and nothing. they helped me when i was stuck in a deep hole, thinking about you know what. the thought and determination of " i want to see them live once in my life" kept me going. i doubt i would've had those thoughts if it was any other artist, i was never a fan of anything or anyone. and dreams... yeah, it was never easy when boomers had the final say. i wanted to become a professional dancer but my parents didn't want to pay for it. they did the same to me as my grandma did to my father by denying him to become a soccer pro when he had the chance. my father was always unhappy about it and i'm still hurt and am full of regret... why did i spend my whole life working my butt off if i can't reach my ultimate goal? they should've known better but... it is what it is now. as a parent, i wouldn't blindly encourage as the opposite extreme, but show the positives and negatives and let them decide what to do.

The dream message is so important. I'm glad you paused and spoke about it. As a parent, I've tried to encourage my daughters dreams, but I'm sure I've expressed hesitation hedged as "realisticness" as well. It's so hard. I want them to be and do everything they want. I try my best not to push my dreams for them, and also not to let my worries show. And there have been financial burdens to overcome, too. Hopefully, they'll be happy in whatever they choose, and however often they change their minds. Because that's another thing I let them know, no matter how far down a path they are, no matter how many years have been vested, no matter how much it's cost us, they're allowed to change their minds. They shouldn't feel stuck or obligated to keep going if they no longer have that passion. That time and money weren't "wasted" if they choose something else. Anyway, I'm going to end up rambling more than you. 😅 Thanks as always, Roscoe. Borahae. 💜

So just to give a bit of perspective, a lot of kpop groups will do "fanservice" for their fans, like telling them that they love them or are so thankful for them, but there have been times where they got caught saying the opposite, like "they (the fans) are ATMs" or "how could I like fansigns when I have to smell their bad breath." Some idols are really haughty and arrogant, and look down on their fans. One reason I really love BTS is because they seem to be genuine and consistent from Day 1. They always seem sooooo thankful for Armys and it doesn't feel forced. So much of their life has been caught on camera and they've had paparazzi snooping in the Big Hit building looking for dirt, but they never found any. Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad u started this series. Aneesa the creator of this docu series is an editor by trade. It's cool that u got that in common. It took her 4 yrs of research to create 20 plus chapters. Many army don't want this series to end. Aneesa has to do more research to tell the rest of BTS story. She sadly does not have much help. This is why it's going to be a long break to get more after we catch up to the final chapters. Sigh. Pang PD is such a progressive thinker. I adore him. Jimin was the last member to join. He was with them 6-8 months. V was with everyone 3 yrs as a trainee. I think they struck gold with him. Looks and great voice so they hid him. =0p The work hard thing for me is a cultural thing and a BTS thing. They work harder than others and that work ethic impresses others. Like a lot of the trainees follow in their footsteps. Like TXT and Enhypen i think. Loved seeing Army do the chants before there were official chants. =0p Loved hearing that army was asking when is their debut on Korean google. Haha fun! Excited to hear your thoughts on ch.3. So glad u liked this. I am learning so much. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 Aishwarya Ahirrao ⟭⟬ ⟬⟭ said on 7/23/22 This is a great series! Aneesa (the creator of The Rise of Bangtan) shared that she has been working on this series (her labor of love) for over 3 years! She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the Kpop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Her skill as a professional video editor really shines through. Amazing work! I think many ARMY really like this series (besides it being extremely well made), she doesn't try to interpret what "she thinks" BTS is trying to say, she just shows the viewers exactly what they said and shared about what their thoughts were at the time. She is an "OG" Kpop fan and BTS fan since pre-debut! She also shared that BTS has been the light in her darkness for many years now. (Cr: "FY" on YT) nafnaf said on 4/2/22 There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture. Mint said on 4/2/22 Yup. It’s kind of the equivalent “bon appetit” before a meal or telling someone “break a leg”.

Hi there, Roscoe. I love this series, and yes, Aneesa is phenomenal - this is her profession and I think she started the series around the time she was furloughed due to covid. I think she has a small team helping, but don't know much at all about that. They all deserve all the plaudits. I believe that her uploads had to slow down recently when she started to get work again, and now (I think) she had to take a hiatus because she has jury duty. Back soon, I hope. I find the vision they had in the early days very impressive too and give Bang PD a lot of credit for demanding they write and sing about their own lives, interests and passions - amazing foresight, and very rare in the industry at the time, I believe. I think that it may have been commonly quite hard for idols at the time to have much artistic freedom, though it is changing a lot now - perhaps because of BTS at least in part. Most of this is my guess, though - there has to be a reason for that historical perception that idols only did what they were told and did not make things themselves ... and yes, the same ahs been true in the west, where it has not received the same media criticism. I wonder when westerm media will actually recognise that idols, and BTS especially, actually beat their own drum And it's clear that right at the beginning, even before debut, BTS had their own drum. Credit, I think, to RM and Suga who were already experienced writers and performers with a lot to say. They clearly had an agenda, and, knowing a little about their early struggles to be allowed to make music, I can see where the roots of that passion lay. Both faced family disapproval and pressure to give up - both refused, and continued by stealth, and both eventually made their families proud of them. Their vocal criticism of Korean society was very brave : Namjoon has said that the sound of their first performance was hardly quiet when criticisms were heaped on him, and we saw some hint of that in this episode. I can see how controversial their message was, but I believe that most of the hate came from those who saw them as a threat - the "big three" companies and their supporters. Over the years it begins to look like criticism is somehow being co-ordinated, and that speaks volumes. BTS all showed enormous character from even before the beginning, in the way they responded to the criticism and the hate. They just quietly bulldoze on. It is very hard to articulate how impressive this group is, as individuals, boys and, now, young men. They must have great mentors and guides. Whatever Bang PD did, right from the very choice of the trainees to selection and nurturing of BTS and their whole support team, he did it right. It looks like magic, because not even all the hard work in the world could be expected to go this well!

Tae trained with the whole group and was actually the 6th member to join. They said he was the secret member or secret weapon. They said he was held back from early promotions to avoid having other companies pirate him. But he's said before that he was saddened by this and worried he wouldn't actually debut because of it.
@ruthfischer76152 жыл бұрын
Pirating almost never happen. For that you have to buy out a contract and it is seldom worth it. The Idol likekly will never have a chance elsewhere after as loyalty is very important in SK. No, Tae was kept back so that there would be more to talk about. They needed every little thing to survive. The company was in debt till 2016 and had little conections. It was a marketing trick nothing more. Tae is a good choice as he isn't official main anything (or lead or visiual) but he was even than very charming. So...

My understanding from interviews and friends from S Korea it is a high compliment. You've worked hard. Meaning there was quality you provided society in your effort. You were a benefit to the community and your family lineage. My Cuban family has the same & Spanish as far as presenting well for the family name. So alot is invested to receive the best benefit for the older generations and later their own children.

The thing with V was that Big hit thought he was their secret weapon, his voice is so unique that they were afraid that a big company steal him from them so they decided not introduce him to the public until the very last minute but the problem is that no one told V the reason why he was hidden and V suffered the whole time thinking he was doing something wrong, that he wasn't talent enough and he almost quit the group. It's very sad if you think how he could felt but every time I hear V sing, I understand why big hit was so much afraid to lose him. He is simple AMAZING!

That is solo stan speak. It is not true. It was a marketing trick. They needed every little possible topic so people would talk, find them and become fans. The Rolling Stoones interview has a belated answer from Mr. Bang about Tae being charming enough to conquer the people that were skeptic about a "new" member in "their" group. To get Tae others would have to buy out the contract and pay what Tae theoretical could earn the company over the whole contract. It is not really worth it and would mean that Tae would have later no chance to be taken outside of that in the entertainment industry as no one would believe him to be loyal enough. That IS very important in a lot of Asian countries. Tae is no "main" and "lead" or "visiual" at the beginning. In the rookie years that was important. Since than those designations have lost their worth and you could at least call him a "Visual". Those designations are also not in any official content anymore. 💜

@@auragriman132 let me quote from Rolling Stone: The Future of Music Issue: BTS (1352) June 2021 (the entire quote on Tae's intro in the article): V, a fan of jazz, classical music, and Elvis Presley, with a distinct baritone, ended up a Big Hit trainee by accident, after showing up to support an auditioning friend. He was a "hidden member", who didn't appear on camera in the endless vlogs and other ingenious online promotion that preceded BTS' debut in June 2013. "I actually can't understand it whatsoever," he says now, with a laugh. "Why did they do that? What was the concept? I really had no idea!" (Si-hyuk belatedly offers an answer: "We needed momentum to announce that the team called BTS was finally complete. V had great charms in terms of appearance and personality, so I thought it would be impactful when he was revealed last. It was an effective strategy in forming the team's overall image, as well as leaving an impression of each member.") OK, only 1 comment: About what Bang PD was saying that he halted ALL SCHEDULES when they were practicing (commercials, interviews, performances, signs...) even if they incur in losses so that they could focus on practicing and bring an even better product. They do it TODAY, when other "artists" would be in their sofas not caring a bit. Really. And not only that, their 3 Seoul concerts between the 10th and the 13th, they did at a loss too (Jin is your go-to info member xD): only 1/3 of the stadium was allowed. So imagine renting the place for many days (prior to the concerts) plus the concert days, all the staff involved... I do hope they managed with their record box earns of 36M in cinemas worldwide ^^U (previous record holder for Event Cinema was... BTS with their last documentary they made 24M) NOTE about this stadium thing: the concerts were 2 weeks ago, yesterday there was a soccer (football) match. Full attendance, cheers allowed (they forced armys to remain silent during the concert, equipped only with clappers). Talk about prejudice, bias, sexism (even though bangtan has a lot of male fans)... in their own country. That shows how much respect we have for each other. ARMY could have misbehaved, BTS too could have said "ARMY, you can cheer!!". Neither did provoke (in ernst) the other. Why? Because at the end of the day, they would report on that. Whereas they haven't said a word about how we complied with ALL the rules. (and I say we, bc we are a family) OK. Kkeut!

"we'll work hard" or "I'll work hard" or "you've worked hard" is a Korean thing. It's just a thing to say "do your best" or "travel safe!" Everyone says it about everything. But it definitely says something about Korean culture that that's the go-to phrase. My favorite usage I see is when someone looses or maybe something just didn't go the way someone want'ed they say "I worked hard" or someone will say "hey, you worked hard." It's very similar feeling to how we will say in America that nothing else matters as long as you did your best. Maybe just the Korean saying is a lot more premeditated. To go into nearly everything you do saying "I'll work hard!"

You can watch most of those music shows in part or full on KZbin. I still laugh looking at Jimin trying to be all tough and gangster when hes such an angel lol. The thing with V is his voice and tone are soooooooooooo unique that they kept him a secret to have impact also to stop other agencies from trying to poach him ( I personally dont think he would have left BigHit regardless as he formed strong bonds with the boys almost straight away). They still to this day make songs about what impacts them Life goes on (about the pandemic) Blue and Grey ( written by Tae about the depression he felt during the pandemic) in fact just about all the songs on BE were written by the members about different aspects of how the pandemic hit them. I think the "flat reaction" is because a lot of the Idols who debut disappear from the music scene within weeks or months never to be seen again so sometimes people will be cautious and also there is a jealousy issue as well. Also as the boys become busier it becomes very hard to keep conected with your old friends has most of them dont live in or near Seoul and the boys had limited time to meet up etc. Yes the whole JK brithday thing was planned its quite common in Korea to prank people on their birthdays.

At 26.14 when you’re talking about kids dreams. It’s hard when you have kids who want to do something out of the ‘norm’. As a parent you want to know that they will be secure. Having said that - my oldest is working in an industry he loves and writing a novel on the side, because he has always wanted to write. My middle one dances for a living and is very good at what she does, and my youngest has just finished their last year of school and as with their siblings, they are taking a year off to decide what they really want to do. Having been the child that did extremely well at school and got told not to go to university and just get a cushy government job (which I did). I didn’t want that for my kids. As long as they are safe and happy that is all that matters . Also, I have been teacing kids to swim in 2006, and I think it was what I was born to do - I never hate my job and there is such a sense of acheivement and pride when the kids do something they never thought they would be able to do. (It also teaches them perseverance).

The majority of fans follow this. Every year in June the members hold ‘Festa’ to celebrate their anniversary and they release new things every day for Army. It starts on June 1st and ends on June 13th (D-Day).

So nice to watch!!! In the kpop scene, labels are so competitive, so it's important to get a talanted kids even they are in other company. Talanted trainees are power of labels and if it'll be leaking, it's a big loss for company. But also it's only for 'one of a kind'. Our V is that kid. Perfection for korean pop idol standards. Only after 3days from their debut, kpop fans in korea boosted with his appearance. I remember they were talking about "who's that boy????" "What is his name?"
@ruthfischer76152 жыл бұрын
Don't fall for that fan narrative. There was a reason - past tense - why he was neither main or lead lead anything nor visual. He did glow up and earned a spot on the dance line. These days the labels have been dropped from official content. it is btw in the Rollingstone Interview. You lack an understanding how the contracts in the music industry in SK work. Another label would have had to buy out the contract and that is expensive and than he wasn't that special. Furthermore it would have destroyed his chance elsewhere as a lot of Asian countries are big on loyalty. So don't do that and change your company before the company that singed you sends you away. Him being intersting as he was seemingly new/not in the blogs boosted BTS also: a marketing strategy to boost comments/generate interest as the label had no money or many contacts and couldn't boost/promote them like bigger companies could.

I too have been intrigued by the 'work hard' concept and have reached a conclusion: From early in it's history, Korean culture has been centred around the group and how each person can contribute to strengthen the overall 'unit' (for want of a better word). Therefor the onus on each individual is to behave in a humble way, work hard and do your best so that everyone witll flourish and 'look after' or 'look well upon' each other. My language is clumsy but I hope you see my point. Koreans use phrases like ' hello, I am ----- please look after me' or 'hello, I am --------- I will work hard' to introduce themselves to others. Actors/singers etc say 'please look forward to our show/album'. They compliment each other by saying 'you have worked hard' or 'you did your best'. I wonder if they even think of these phrases in the way we see them - I suspect they are just a form of expression that people accept and say without thinking just like my culture or yours.

“Good Job” in Korean There are a few ways to say “good job” in Korean. The phrase in Korean that you choose to use depends on the formality of the situation and the exact meaning you wish to express. Formal “Good Job” in Korean 1. 고생하셨습니다 (gosaenghasyeotseumnida)→ Job well done! Great job! You’ve worked hard. This is an especially great phrase to use after someone has completed a long day at work or finished something else difficult and time-consuming. 2. 수고하셨습니다 (sugohasyeotseumnida!)→ Thank you for your effort./Thank you for your trouble. You can also use this when someone did not directly help you with their effort but simply completed a presentation, a job, or even just at the end of a workday or a school day.

V is so talented and aesthetically unique that BH knew he would get stolen if they revealed him before the official debut. I don't have the links, but this has been mentioned many times in other sources.... the term "work hard" is a big part of East Asian work ethic. Manga and anime, as well as Japanese dramas, also feature this as a way to wish each other well during a workday.

When I was 16 I had a dream. I was a voracious science fiction reader and these books had created a longing in me to experience “difference”. People different than everyone I knew, customs different than mine, languages I had never heard. My parents had made a radical change in our lives when I was three by moving from the poverty and farms of their youths in North Dakota to Southern California, working their way solidly into the middle class by perseverance and determination. I was the eldest child in my family and As the very first female in either of their families to graduate from high school I was successfully continuing their dream.

🤣😝😖🥺🤗 Well, I just had an adventure! While typing I accidentally hit the post key, then when I tried to return, my screen froze! But here I am again. To continue... So, at 16, I had my own dream. Being what I call a “practical” dreamer, I had even figured out how to achieve my dream. My family was short on money. There was no way that they would be able to finance any travel plans of mine, so I decided to become an international airline stewardess (as they were called way back then). So I took French and German in order to qualify to apply. It was not my parents who crushed my dream. For significant reasons I had never told them. It was my school counselor. In our last year of high school we were required to research the paths to achieve our plans for our future. When my school counselor read my paper he told me categorically that becoming an airline stewardess was impossible for me. Why? Because I was too smart! I’m not going into the whole story about why I accepted his judgement. Suffice it to say that I never dared to have a conscious dream or to state a concrete goal EVER AGAIN! I’m 72 now. But before you feel badly for me, despite everything, I HAVE managed to achieve my early dream. 💥🍾🥳🤗 I have been living in Europe for the last 34 years. In addition to English, I am fluent in German and Swedish (my French got lost early on). I have met and been friends with and loved people from all over the Earth. My life has been extraordinarily blessed with “otherness”. In the end I believe that my dream did not so much get utterly crushed but rather went deep underground, working with craft and ingenuity to come to fulfillment. For me, BTS is a daily confirmation that every part of my life and my commitment to love and joy and connection with others reflects the fulfillment of my early dream. The members of BTS and their music confirm me every single day. Now, as for the mundane. I live in Sweden. In Sweden it is possible to buy strong alcohol (anything with an alcoholic content over 3.5%) ONLY at the government owned monopoly, which is open between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm and is closed on Sundays and ALL holidays. This system is supposed to reduce alcoholism, but I’m here to tell you that Swedes LOOVE to drink. Anyway, one of the boasts of this company is that they can get you any kind of alcohol you want. It is now my purpose find soju. I’ll let you know how this quest turns out!

He was practicing and living with them as a trainee, just didn't film him or show him to their fans, which I think sucks. And yes, the "work hard" is a cultural thing. The reason I am such a fan of BTS is because of their message and I admire them so much. And knowing that they were standing up and being a voice for youth, even before they were successful, made me so much more of a fan of them. I mean their debut song? Yeah, that's BTS. And they may have matured and grown up, but they are still spreading a message of hope and standing up for the less fortunate, and the youth. I love these seven talented, humble, compassionate, lovable, dope, amazing Korean men. This Dope Old Person will continue to love them for their message and their humble yet confident souls.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

17:47 you got up abruptly and then returned looking a little unsettled. Hope you were just belching off screen and nothing serious going on. 💜

V was a secret weapon and I suspect they didn’t want him poached by another company and to give them a surprise edge like “hey look be excited we have a secret member”. The hustle to do all these shows is exhausting just to watch. The biggest takeaway to me is right out the gate they had a controversial (for South Korea) song about the pressures of youth, very unusual for kpop. They’ve been talking messages weren’t from the get go. That’s what got them the slow growing but exceptionally loyal fandom that of course then exploded exponentially.

V actually joined BTS before Jimin. I’m so excited to be watching this series again with you. It shows so much about them. Regarding the “we will work hard” comment. I watched a series with Big Hit called ILand where the group Enhypen was formed. All off the contestants said this after their performances each week as they were being judged and critiqued. I believe it’s a cultural thing. Also their official debut date is 6/13/13 💜💜

I honestly wish I had BTS when I was in school, especially School Trilogy BTS. I needed to hear No More Dream and N.O so badly then, my poor childhood.
