You can distinguish thistle from these plants by its hairless and spear-shaped leaves, which are bright pale green, have white veins, thorny edges, and are bright pale green. According to a belief about the plant; "While Virgin Mary was breastfeeding the baby Jesus, the milk dripping on the thistle leaves gave them such a white-veined appearance."
