I'm amazed that in all of the years since the ship was sunk, nobody has attempted to salvage the vehicles in her holds. When cleaned up & restored they would be worth a small fortune EACH .

At 2250 hours on 5th October 1941 two twin-engine Heinkels He 111´s crossed the north Egyptian coast heading south-east in search of a big ship, her presence confirmed by German intelligence. on the point of returning home, the pilots spotted ship at anchor.he released two bombs right over her bridge. Both penetrated aft of the bridge, detonating a great deal of ammunition. The explosion sent two locomotives spiralling into the air the ship was ripped open. She sank at 0130 hrs 6th October 1941

@andoniasenjo Yes, it's a shame. There are always people who have to look with their hands or take souvenirs. It's a shame because they have no respect and when they leave with their souvenirs, there is less for everyone else to see. Thank you for the great video, this looks like a fantastic dive site. It seems to me that for some strange reason lionfish always really like to congregate on wrecks.

At 10:18 that's NOT a torpedo, it's a vane used for minesweeping...they got blown up on a fairly regular basis IIRC, and needed regular replacing.

That's my kind of sunken treasure, stacks of antique motorcycles. Too bad they're ruined though. Those old harleys would have probably been worth 20k plus ea today had they been salvaged before rusting and rotting. They were probably practically brand new when sank. I want a time machine to go back and rescue them when they were fresh.

mate that is not a foot ! it just looks like a foot, the the Thistlegorm was cargo ship and the vehicles were in the main hold... ie no one down there.... on a different tangent what depth is she at ? i noticed some of the divers are running nitrox, I am newly qualified open water but would eventually like to dive the Thistlegorm, just wondered if i need to go get trained on enriched systems.

Those bikes would be worthless. you see the rusted shell of what used to be a bike. rust would have made it through every part of it. only thing that may still be re-storable on it might be a bronze bushing perhaps? lol Enjoy the video.
