Manmohan Desai, the only producer director who many a times started making films without completion of Story and screenplay writting, but was such a focused n confident director that he always completed his films according his vision. He shot the muhurat of "Ganga Jamuna Saraswati" without story announced Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty in lead role. Actually he decided never to make films without Amitabh and Rish Kapoor. But he didn't find a Story for these actors and finally when Film completed the leading cast was Amitabh, Jayaprada and Mithun Chakraborty. A great successful entertainer masala film director and producer who in his 57 year life period made so many Block bluster, hit, super hit movies ( very few flops) with so many stars from.. Rajkapoor( Chhaliya), Shammi Kapoor ( Bluff Master, Badtameez ) Vishwajeet (Kismat), Rajesh Khanna ( SachchaJhootha, Roti), Jitendra (Bhai ho to aisa) Dharmendra (Dharam Veer, Chacha Bhateeja) and then created history with Legendary Amitabh Bachchan. Being a crazy Amitabh fan I have seen all films of him, many of them many times. Dr Amar Chauhan

Good feature and research. Manmohan Desai gave so many hits and made so much money, but his last movies were mere caricature of his earlier self, with absurd story lines and too much centric on just Amitabh's character. Other characters were not developed completely. The story line of both 'Ganga Jamuna Saraswati' and 'Toofan' were old fashioned and not liked by the audience, as its taste was changing. But hard to believe that Manmohan Desai was facing financial difficulties as he made lot of money from his earlier super hits. He left direction as his health was not permitting the grueling shooting schedules.
