My generation grew up watching Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, R Carlos... I still remember the legendary 2002 WC run and Joga Bonito commercials. It was the first World Cup I watched. Also our Dejan Rambo Petković was the fifth foreigner to become hall of famer in the Brazilian football league. I had a chance to meet him in a football conference once and he is such a great guy with a great football knowledge. Interesting fact about the arena. The construction was started in the early 90's but was stopped because of war, sanctions and so on. When the construction resumed in early 2000's they had to delay again, because they realized the original structural design of the upper stands did not calculate for one important factor. Force of thousands of fans jumping up and down in unison. It meant the stands could collapse because of the violent vibrations. So they had to redesign the stand lower supports in order for the building to endure that kind of force. True story.

Grew up in the US. I went to UCONN and witnessed two national titles as a student there. I thought our student section could get wild. I never realized how popular basketball was until i started going to matches overseas The NBA games are full of people taking their clients out for a sporting event and geared towards more wealthy people and the atmosphere sucks compared to college and what you guys do over there in Europe and Asia

In 2 weeks in OAKA Athens it takes place the Panathinaikos-Olympiacos derby for the Greek league (not Euroleague but still big). It should be your next trip. OAKA is one of the newer and bigger basketball stadiums in Europe and the atmosphere will be crazy.
