I opened for an 80's hair band recently, and was asked if they could use my amp. I said they could but probably wouldn't want to use my Katana 100W MKII because those guys like to stand in front of a big amp. Two Marshall stacks were brought in for them, but the singer/guitarist ended up using my Katana instead! I watched in disbelief as that little Boss amp totally held its own against a Marshall ALL THE WAY UP. I have four Katana amps. Love them

I’m running a pair of katana 112 100’s a gen 3 as main and the Mk2 as its stereo partner. With a gafc and gafcex for total control! Such versatile powerhouses! ( as always I’m also using a 412 cab with a 50watt amp as center dry). I gotta have my efx loop(s) the Bluetooth option is soo worth the extra gold.

@defur45Ай бұрын
You really think it is better than the tube amps you own?
@Smart-AlexАй бұрын
@@defur45 Owned. Comparable at least, not necessarily better and a lot more flexible.
@JamesFlorio-ti8gcАй бұрын
Ok so I won't argue if it's better no, but once you run a good gate and drive pedal into these....it's hard to tell the difference.....the only amp id consider above these is a mt15, but it has no effects....how much for a cab, and effects to equal what's in a katana??? Probably about $3000 in gear 💯🤷🏻@@defur45

I actually bought Thomann´s last Boss Katana MKII 50 watt version in stock and I am very happy how it works. It is extremely loud with a very clean high treble and good deep low bass. Perfect sounding amp even placed at 30 meters distance from me and its volume set at around 70% (2 o´clock on your dial). These are LOUD amps! I might buy the Gen-3 later.

Katana artist MK 1 owner here i’ve had it for three years, I just love it number one, It sounds great. Anyone can find their sound on one of these. The connectivity is great. I’ve hooked this amp up many different ways. With all the onboard effects, does anybody need to buy any pedals. My amp is truly a Swiss Army knife of amplifiers and way more versatile than any of my other amps and it sounds and plays and inspires me every bit as good as all my other amps I need to sell them also. While it is tempting to get one of these newer generation amps I am getting off the gas train here sonically I don’t think the newer ones could sound much better than my artist MK 1 to my ear at least PS my favorite way to use mine is 4 cable method with UA amp pedals

The Band Mix demo was great, and really did show some differences between some of the models. I thought the two 100W combos definitely sounded a bit ‘bigger’ than the 50s, but also very similar to each other, so not sure if the sound alone would justify the Artist. I’d have to look more closely at the other features. The one that did stand out for me was the 100W head. Obviously the different speakers (and the fact that there were two of them rather than one) would be a big factor there, but I definitely preferred it in this context. How those speakers would go in the amp’s clean or acoustic modes is another question though, and maybe that’s where the combos may pull back some ground. Thanks for a very interesting demo!

Still thinking about getting one of these Katanas. The relation of price and quality seems to be too good. Especialls if you want to have the option of including a cab someday. Thanks for the shootin'!

KATANA 50 EX 6:58 ARTİST : 15:04
@jimmcdougall997322 күн бұрын
At first I thought the 50 could keep up with the other instruments. But then realised with the other models that you had kept them all pretty low in the mix. It would be interesting to know what volume the 50 was set at. It would give a better idea of which model is needed for the job.
@chrishyde1216Ай бұрын
If only the 50 EX had an effects loop, as it would be my choice for home use. Pure commercial decision I guess, to persuade you to buy the 100.

Nice video, thank you! I have the Artist Gen 3 & the Artist MK 2 - pure beauties:) You can coulpe them up in "Stereo Expand Mode" (for Stereo Delay, Reverb, etc...) BUTTTTTT, the GEN 3 doesn't have "Dual Link" anymore, so you cannot connect them "Dry-Wet" - NOOOOOOO, so sad about that! I also contacted BOSS, but it seems to only be possible with a classic extra AB-Splitter. Anyways super nice Amps in my opinion!

I liked the head room of Artist and had more appealing mids to me.

I didn't hear much of a difference between them when you introduced the drums and bass. On their own I can totally hear the difference, but not in the mix. Maybe it is just my ears.

Guillaume, please write the tabs or chords of what you played at the beginning of the video from 00:16 to 00:50. I really liked this part, it sounds just incredible, I would really like to repeat it. thank you very much

Thanks! G used the 50 for the intro, pushed setting, some drive, some mild fxs. That's it. Very similar to his settings later on in the video. Cheers //Kris

Which Katana mk iii is for me? None. Sit'n on two mk ii 212's. I've always thought they sound the best of the bunch. Why no mk iii 212 here today? I'm not understanding the addition of more analog switching on the panels? Other than just giving you more predetermined settings. What is the advantage? It's like they're going backwards with the tech. Why bother with Tone Studio. If they're just gonna try'n charge more to put select features back on the analog panel? Any connectivity is obviously welcomed. But the rest is completely pointless. Gimmicks.

None. I prefere it oldschool. Plug and play. No chichi no blingbling. But thats all to personal prefrences. I am shure those amps are great for people who like all in one solutions ore like to play around with apps and softwear instead of their instrument. But its not for me and be shure that i have tried. 🤷🏻♂️
