I prefer the colours on the original Costco version much better I'm afraid (got that one recently second hand for only $10). Never liked the flags and starting switches though, so we tend to swap out those for the starting gate and Finnish line from the railway race set you spoke of. The one with the fireworks that pop up. Makes for a much better start and finnish to the race although my friends little boy prefers to have the engines running on a continuous loop picking up the crates.
