Philosophy tutorials - reasonio.wordp...
This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologiae, 1st part of the 2nd part, questions 90-91 and 94 (IaIIae, q. 90-91 and 94), and examines the relationships between Eternal Law, Natural Law, and Human Law

You can find the copy of the text I am using for this sequence on Thomas' political thought here - amzn.to/2km4N2g
My videos are used by students, lifelong learners, other professors, and professionals to learn more about topics, texts, and thinkers in philosophy, religious studies, literature, social-political theory, critical thinking, and communications. These include college and university classes, British A-levels preparation, and Indian civil service (IAS) examination preparation

Everyone will tell you not to lecture, but nothing beats a well prepared presentation of ideas.

I was hoping you would read the story of Natural Law by Thomas Aquinas and help explain the meaning to it. I have to write a discussion on this and i dont understand it much.

Well, there is no "story" of Natural Law, just discussions by Thomas. You've got several videos on Natural Law in my playlists. Good luck with the discussion

I have the Ethics theory and contemporary issues book. In each chapter there is a reading section. I'm just not understanding any of this. Do you have advice on how to understand philosophy better.

Well, it often takes reading through several times. Like I noted, I've actually got several videos on Natural Law and Thomas Aquinas, so you might watch them all the way through. I'd also not say "I'm just not understanding any of this" -- you have nothing to build upon or work with if you tell yourself (or others) you don't understand ANY of it. Figure out what you do understand, and start chipping away at the parts you don't

@@jinneferdeleon5781 Not to Thomas. For Thomas. Think about what "eternal law" means and how Thomas writes about it. You ought to be reading the text

Professor Sadler, you mentioned a lecture at the Culinary earlier this week. Is that the culinary institute of America? Do you teach at vasser? I attended the CIA. Oh and my answer for unique human doings is prostitution. That’s unique. But I think cooking is probably best, considering it changed our primitive brains. It is the difference. Thanks for the lecture!!!

You realize this video is from years ago, right? I taught at Marist, where that video was filmed. My wife at that time, worked at the CIA

Man, I have to say I reject most of what's discussed here regarding the differences between animals and man. Some do use language. Some do go to school. The fox knows problem solving and logic. The bird knows music. I'd say 1- we can make fire. 2- we NEED clothes 3. We make things

Yep. Presenting Thomas Aquinas' views here, rather than focusing on what contemporary animal behavior studies seem to show at a rudimentary level.
