coming back to this video 2 years later, I think at least one of the wires is supposed to be soldered to one of the pins in the 3 way switch, which is I believe how the circuit board knows when to do the talking function when the motor is on or off. Because when I look inside my flip face talking thomas, I do see at least one of the wires soldered to the switch. You however didn't do that, so I think that may be the reason why the talking function didn't work. I would say to fix it and do that, but I'm assuming you no longer have this model 2 years later, but hopefully this is a helpful comment to anybody who wants to fix their flip face models
