From this break dancer to another dancer I say, he has rhythm, timing, technical ability, skill and most importantly, soul in his dancing. Gets a 10/10 from me. I loved it!

It was especially interesting to me to hear him express his need to have his footwork fit the music. My Uncle Arnold born in the late 1800's could do a dance without music being played but you knew what the tune was by his steps...I had never seen anything like it. It is a pleasure to watch Mr. Maupin dance.

if it doesn't 'fit' the music, what good is it?

It’s called buck dancin or flatfootin and don’t worry we won’t let it disappear, it’s still pretty common here in southern Appalachia which is where it’s from. If you’re anywhere that has bluegrass or old time music you’ll inevitably see someone buck dancin

I know as an Irish dancer, you would think this as i did, but then if you check out the original irish dance (where this type of dancing basically comes from) the 'sean nos' (?) is pretty similar and i guess it's the rhythm and number of steps that makes it interesting not necessarily the lack of intricacy of the steps.
