I'm German and I can laugh about lots of things and jokes - about German manners in particular. But for this perfomance there is only one word in Germany: Fremdscham. Really felt bad for Thomas Middleditch (who I liked in "Silicon Valley"). I guess I never felt that bad for another person when watching a video, especially when Seth had to lie "it's really good...".

Yes it was in the western part of Berlin (Berliner Philharmonie) And the French woman actually won the 3rd price in the Schlager competition you see in the snippet

That was West Germany tho. I don't know how France Gall could have gotten into East Germany. It was a clip from a show called 'Deutscher Schlagerwettbewerb 1968' and that was just how germans were like in the 60s.
