On this episode I welcome back my friend and mentor Thomas Moore, the internationally renowned author of such classics as Care of the Soul and A Religion of One’s Own, editor of the essential James Hillman collection A Blue Fire, and someone who has been teaching soul-centered psychology to therapists, psychiatrists and other caregivers for over 30 years.
In this conversation, we begin to explore questions around what makes a good therapist and what kind of education helps to create a foundation for depth psychology. It’s a topic that’s as vast and deep as the soul itself, and after an hour and a half we really just begin to scratch the surface. I’m hoping that this is just the first of many conversations with Thomas on this theme.
Topics: psychology, Carl Jung, James Hillman, soul, mythology, language, mythopoetics

Very beautiful conversation, very wonderful material. A great video idea would be sort of going through Thomas Moore's books in his bookshelf and have him speak on the books he cherishs the most. Thank you!

Well, if you're not familiar with mythologies then, yeah, Jungian psychology is little accessible to you as it deals with archetypal patterns to a large extent, if not mostly, and mythologies are a principal source of them, culturally speaking. It's enough to read M.L. von Franz's books to see how important it is to have this knowledge.

I enjoyed this im a gestalt practitioner and now studying psych. it is too scientific and bland /no soul. there is transpersonal and yes agree to rigid. Im changing into psychotherapy. Visionary " yes. Open - expansive makes so much sense. there is a mental health crisis in secondary schools some kids very lost. Thanks guys love the conversation. I have the red book and a few other of Jungs books Ioin. MDReflections, Man and his symbols. was my first book, Neuman. Im in Australia

Feel so connected to this podcast. It's cool when you find people who are resonating on a similar wavelength. Listening to Thomas Moore's Eloquence Of Silence on Audible and it's super inspiring. It's like fresh rain on scorched earth.
