The best interpretation of this piece, masterfully played with perfect phrasing, held back just where it's needed, and never an excess of virtuosity. Mr Ospital is among the very best organists of our generation.

Thus is a sublime work and wonderfully played. I adore Durufle and French symphonic organs. Since I live on the West Coast of the U.S., I unfortunately haven't had many chances to hear a grand organ in a great space. Some years back I had the good luck to be in Paris during an organ festival, and one of the churches I visited for a recital was Saint-Eustache. Perhaps it was M. Ospital playing?

I played this piece in 1980 for my degree finals and it has remained one of my favourite organ pieces ever since - along with the Poulenc concerto. Hearing and watching this I can't imagine now how I ever did it.!Thank you Thomas for bringing this touch of nostalgia to me and for a truly magnificent performance.
