I love this song cause it hits home for me. When I was 17 I fell asleep behind the wheel. My foot floored it and I got up to 68 mile per hour. Right before I hit the car at the light I woke up and I felt arms wrap around me and told me to sleep. for the few seconds of impact I was unconscious. Needless to say me and the driver both walked away with no injurys. The cop that did the report from the hospital told my mom he has no idea how I am still alive let alone without a scratch. Jesus saved me that day and the guy I unfortunately hit. If I get the chance I would love to ask Jesus why he saved me that day.

I think this song comes legitimately from a sincere heart. Jesus will meet us anywhere we find ourselves if we call his name. Just like the blind man who called out "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy of me!" as he sat by the road begging (Luke 18:38). Jesus didn't say, "Clean him up and bring him to the nearest synagogue." Instead, Jesus dealt with the blind man right there by the road side and asked him "What do you want me to do for you?". I love this song for that reason.

I have a beer with Jesus about once a week, maybe twice. I work evenings at a restaurant so I work late. One of my favourite things to do after work is to go to the pub across the road, often in the middle of week when it’s quieter (sometimes I’m the only customer there) or on the weekend if I need a bite to eat after work too, order a pint and just talk to the Lord about what’s going in my life and what’s on my mind. My grandpa listened to this song a lot .... we didnt know he had stage 4 cancer. It came quick to take him. But I think he knew something was wrong he was so good at hiding the pain. He showed me this song I was very surprised becouse he hasn't been strong in showing his faith for many years. The fact is Jesus and God (however you perceive them) did not stop communicating 2000 years ago. They are here today, everyday, everywhere. I so believe in Jesus!He has save me in more ways than I can count!I was blessed by growing up on a farm with 9 siblings and now our children and even though we did not have a lot of money growing up were may were made to feel rich by my parents love for each other and for us and by our grandparents and by the strength in our religion. We all are very healthy, warm and safe today, even though our parents have passed and "the farm" is still standing with the original house we all remember(95 yrs old this year) and which is still an important part of us to visit and still maintained by family members.I give praise and thanks to all the artists who can now bring forward, because of their involvement with music, this wonderful gift of what is so very important now about these kinds of feelings, especially now in this very vulnerable age of IT.Thank you.

2020 and still listening, this song has so much meaning to me about my perents that massed away in a car accident back in 2017 before I graduated in 2018 now me and me girlfriend live together and in this song when he asks about his mom and dad it makes me cry because it reminds me of my perents but I know there up there with the good Lord where there not in any pain both of them had gotten cancer and I know there watching over me and my brother and my little sister and I wish they both was here to meet there grandson that me and my girlfriend just had 3 weeks ago but I know there with us we named him after my grandpa Johnny Layne Denning

Obed Raymond Bagona No, Christianity is a religion. I "pray" that you keep your opinions to yourself and let people live their lives. Jesus was more than likely a real person, but his affiliation with/as an entity is wishy washy just as any mythological story. I wouldn't pray that you follow Zeus or Apollo, Worship Mohammed or Buddha..there is no need to recruit to your faith team. All religion does is segregate, I think if we spent more time loving instead of labelling..the earth would be a much more livable place.

I know there's a lot of controversy over this song, debating whether it's an amazing message or blasphemy. I believe we should all do what Jesus did: He spent time with sinners and found the good among the bad. if you truly believe this song is disrespectful or "bad" then please try to find the good within the bad. it's not that hard. the lyrics in the chorus prove that! Just one word ('beer') shouldn't ruin it all for ya.
