In my personal experience (not married yet but we are close to it) so maybe I’m not the right to answer because I’m not married. But in all honesty, it’s because I tested the relationship. The one I’m with now, we hated each other in 7th grade, became friends in 8th, and dated all through high school. We broke off a few times, and it had its ups and downs. Everyone told me that I could do better, and I deserved more. So I tried others. Some of them were people offered what I deserved but they were not better. And those who claimed to be better did not have what I deserved. But as of now, I find myself at a loss without this girl I am with now, and I’m trying to push through, because I’ve looked, and no one else catches my eye. Not anyone that I can see having a life with.

Me and my high school sweetheart are getting married soon after 6 years of dating and we've stayed together through every fight and have a rule of never going to bed angry. I've been in relationship where we slept on fights and the next day was so much worse. So now no matter how late we stay up and work it out and you both have to be okay with saying their wrong. It all depends on how much work your both willing to put in and if you slack off on your end then your better half needs to be willing to tell you that and not in a downing way but be open with each other and things will go the way they were meant to be.
