(Rodney arrives at the train station) Ticket Receptionist: Rount trip or one way? Rodney Copperbottom: One way. (Rodney's parents arrive and his mother sighs with relief) Lydia Copperbottom: There you are! I told you I'd find him! It's a mother's instinct. Herb Copperbottom: "Instinct"? He left us a note! "I'm leaving. I'll be at the train station." Lydia Copperbottom: Never mind. Pick up that suitcase. You're coming home right now. Rodney Copperbottom: No, Mom. I have to do this. I'm going to Robot City tonight. I'm gonna get a job and I'm gonna help Dad pay back Mr. Gunk. Lydia Copperbottom: [to Herb] Talk to him! Herb Copperbottom: Uh... Ro-- Lydia Copperbottom: Robot City?! You're just a kid! Rodney Copperbottom: I'm never gonna be someone here. I wanna be an inventor. I wanna meet Bigweld. I wanna BE somebody! Lydia Copperbottom: You are somebody. Somebody who's not getting on that train! Rodney Copperbottom: Yes, I am. Lydia Copperbottom: [to Herb] Talk to him! (Herb walks over to the ticket booth.) Herb Copperbottom: One ticket for Robot City. Lydia Copperbottom: Where are you going? Herb Copperbottom: Not me. Him. (Rodney gapes in surprise at his father's approval.) Lydia Copperbottom: But... Herb Copperbottom: Rodney, did you know that when I was your age, I wanted to be a musician? I played pretty well, too, but... but my dad was worried that I wouldn't be able to make a living, so I got refitted to be a dishwasher. Now, I'm not complaining, but I've always said to myself: "If I could do it over it again, I would follow my dream." You've got greatness in you, Rodney. Never doubt it. [hands Rodney the ticket] You go to Robot City. You go meet Bigweld, and you show him your big ideas. And Rodney, never, never give up. (Bots start to board the train. Lydia sighs and sadly walks over to Rodney and hands her son his suitcase. Rodney embraces his mother as she cries on her shoulder.) Conductor: [sobbing] All aboard! Rodney Copperbottom: Ahem. Mom. (Herb gently pulls his wife out of the hug. They watch their son board the train. As the train slowly begins to depart, Rodney leans out of the door and bids his parents farewell.) Rodney Copperbottom: I won't let you down, Dad. I'll make you proud! (Rodney closes the train door just as train leaves the station.) Herb Copperbottom: I know you will. (Rodney's parents watch as their train with their son inside fades from view.)
