Cillian Murphy is so brilliant in the role of Tommy Shelby that it makes you believe he must have a similar personality, so the fact he’s absolutely nothing like this character in real life and is actually very placid is testament to how great an actor he is.

Cillian said in one of his interviews that he had a "powerful" candidate for this role that almost got the role but he's glad he got it instead because just like you said this show was a masterpiece and it wouldn't be either if the actor had not been Cillian Murphy. He played the character so well!

@ Steven Knight’s first choice for Tommy was actually Jason Statham, he was worried Cillian wasn’t right for the role because he comes across so meek in real life lol. Murphy texted Knight saying “Remember I am an actor” and thankfully he got the part.

I m Belgian I have degrees in law but economy was bad two years ago (it still is) but I took a job for a while as an English teacher but never heard of the word ‘placid’ what does it mean ? I can look it up and I know Cillian wants very low profile in his personal life and no social media but ‘placid’ I never heard it and I m intrigued. Ofc amazing scene
