I have read several of Sowell’s books and highly recommend them. He has the ability to transcend race (yours, mine, his own) when he writes very thoughtfully about the problems that people face and how race may play a role. He’s doesn’t preach, he doesn’t make excuses, he certainly doesn’t play the race card in attempt to justify the reality, he doesn’t play the victim, and he doesn’t get political (even when writing about politics/policy). He lays bare the facts of why we are the way we are, how we came to be that way, and what we can do to be better. And then he leaves it to the reader to decide what they think about the information. The only thing difficult about reading one of his books is that you will have a new and more accurate understanding of the subject matter…but then you’ll have to continue to hear/see the stupidity that is the MSM and the internet. 😮

And PugnansFidicen answered: Depends on what areas of indoctrination/misinformation you encounter most often. If I could only recommend one it would probably have to be "A Conflict of Visions". The philosophical clarity it brings to the modern ideological tension between conservatives and liberals is hard to beat. But, if you are very interested in issues of social justice and race (or have family who constantly bring up issues in this realm as I do..) then "Discrimination and Disparities" is indispensable, though it is much more narrowly focused. Or, similarly, if you have an interest in economic issues and are not yet familiar with non-Keynesian approaches to economics, Basic Economics is great too. Hope this helped you. 😊

DJT did what he could despite having almost all of the power structures aligned against him. It's astonishing, how much he was able to accomplish under the circumstances, really. There are groups/individuals with enough assets to have simply assassinated him. At that level of money, one can remove (prevent them from existing, actually) one's fingerprints from any criminal act. For whose benefit are you genuflecting? If you must offer praise, why not praise the Lord, since He is Giver of all good things? To worship the creature rather than the Creator is a fundamental aspect of sinful human rebellion. People prefer to worship what is visible and concrete, for that does not require the exercise of faith, only of misguided affections. I don't know whether T.S. is a Christian, but if he were, he would be guaranteed eternal life in Christ. Therefore it would not matter much how long he lives on this earth. It says in the Bible if you do good works men will praise you and validate your good works, no need for self boasting. You don't get it do you? You think saying "I'm a Christian" makes you right with 'God'? Go re-read your Bible. God had the BIGGEST beef with his own people throughout, they even killed his son. It wasn't the Romans, they only followed the Jews decree/choice. You are a fake 'religous' Christian going around spouting words with no discernment or righteousness, just piety. Those who walk in TRUTH are followers of Christ, not those who profess yet walk in wickedness. The Roman Centurion (with no Jewish upbringing) had more faith than any Israelite in the land, according to Jesus himself. Chew on that. The good Samaritan story showed the non-Jew Foreigner to be more righteous and of Godly character, than the 'Holy man' who walked past. Chew on that. "A Jew is a Jew inwardly." Choke on that. So TS seeking and dealing in TRUTH is a Christian, no need to attend a building or profess anything. I see 'Christian' posts similar to yours all throughout YT and you think you're going to win people over with several negative, judgemental statements? It takes time, physical interaction and real life examples for someone to truly come to Christ. Few will read 2-3 lines and go "OMG I need to change!". But when he was the winner of that election, I decided to give him a chance to see how he would do, and gave him 100 days in the office to study whether he had what it took to be a leader or if this was just something to add to his list of criteria he wanted to put for his own legacy. By the first 100 days, I am honored to say he humbled my perspective about him and saw that he was taking his oath to serve our country with real determination that I have ever witnessed a president do. I do believe he has his blind spots like we all do and it has the potential to hurt both him and the country, but he made serious effort and the results showed how much he cared for the US. Despite what the establishment has attempted to defame him and his family’s legacy, he still delivered those punches on our behalf of those of us who were about to lose hope in our country. Thus, he earned my respect more than any politician who has sat in that room for decades making a career by just sitting in those damned seats, while our country wasted away. In others they are meant to support areas of US business -- which can sometimes be necessary for complicated reasons. His policies helped greatly to reduce energy costs, and were generally pro-business (and anti-tax). Joe Biden has also sometimes acted in a pro-business manner during his career -- but that was only when those businesses first (or afterwards) PAID HIM to act in their favor. That's different, lol.

"How many people are more mature in their mid 30's than when they're 70?" As someone who is nearing 50... I can tell you that I am tired of rules, responsibility, making sure all T's are crossed and I's dotted... You do reach a point where responsibility is an overbearing burden and you relax a bit. You let your grandkids have candy. You buy the impractical sports car that you wouldn't have dreamed of buying when you had kids to feed and bills to pay... The phrase, "Once a man, twice a child" has some validity.

"Trump might have seemed like a businessman out for his own interests at first" Actually he never was, that was simply the media portrayal of him which many people, myself included got sucked into. If you go watch interviews with him from throughout the 80's and 90's he has always had a consistent message about the problems in America and how to fix them. When he took office he went about delivering on his promises. Strong economy, lowered the cost of living, lowest unemployment, No new wars started and suppressed both North Korea and Russia while in office. His record is outstanding, but some people prefer being in the toilet to reading mean tweets so here we are...

He already was insanely rich… I don’t see where the ‘change of heart’ comes in. Dude is/was interested in his legacy, and general supply side economics… which when applied are a net benefit to everyone. But it’s hard to summarize things that draw from many lanes of expertise and experience. Like how lower tax percent generates more tax revenue where more taxable commerce takes place because of the lower rate…Few even understand capex because socialists trained the last generations.
