The darkness makes sense as the author of the Thomas universe was born in 1911 and his father was born in 1854. I'm sure he heard a lot of tales from ancient days about good friends who were there through thick and thin but died young or had their bodies compromised by various popular diseases of the times.

@@Gazdatronik The first book, “The Three Railway Engines” was published in May of 1945. World War 2 hadn’t even fully ended yet. It would be another 10 years before Europe would be mostly rebuilt. I mean yeah, sorta cruel that all the steam engines on the ‘Other Railway’ were scrapped. Only chances of survival were escaping to Sodor. But, thats exactly what British Railways in real life did from 1948 to 1968. Out with the old, and in with the new. The series’ creator never sugar coated real life, but approached it in a respectable manner. He’d rather poke fun at it and make jokes. Take, “Thomas Goes to Breakfast” as an example. Thomas crashes through someone’s house! Except instead of anyone dying, rather the family is complaining about breakfast being ruined. Although at the end of the story there’s still serious implications. As Thomas is sent away, while another engine (Daisy The Diesel Railcar) is to do his work while “Thomas is in, dispose”, as The Fat Controller puts it. I would highly recommend the fan-made series titled, “Steaming To Legacy”. It covers Thomas legacy from its inception to modern day. Mind you, it doesn’t cover the 2020 reboot “All Engines Go” which id absolute trash if you haven’t seen it. Compared to the likes of Series 5, were we saw death and things blowin’ up, the reboot is a far cry from the early days. Hopefully I provided some useful information in my ramblings!

To everyone, don’t know what did the synthesizer sounds did they use, It’s the instruments: Roland Jupiter 6 (S1-2, 3) E-MU Proteus 2000 (S3, 4, 5 and 6) Prophet 2000 (S3-4, 5 and 6) Linn LM-1 (S1-2, 3 and 4, 5) Mike and Junior, used them from the seasons. Jupiter 6 was actually appeared in S3, in the S1 themes, with S3 bits. Korg DSS-1, Mike and Junior used the harp glissando in the seasons. Someone was looking for that. Linn LM-1, used in the seasons. Roland Jupiter 6, one of the favorite synths. Appeared on S1 and 2. Has flute, clarinet, gritty trumpet, bass, brass, xylophone, glockenspiel, strings. E-MU Proteus 2000, those one of the samplers, appeared on S3 and 6. Series 8 Instruments, after Mike and Junior we’re replaced by Robert Hartshorne, the other instruments we’re used in the HiT’s series. CGI Series Instruments, we’ll find out... UPDATE: I made a mistake where the Prophet doesn’t have a harp Gliss, it’s a Korg DSS-1 harp Gliss.

The cgi stuff was ok up untill the great race. After that the show just went south. I never grew up watch the original masterpieces and I am sad for that. I feel like the show would have done better of that had better writing, didn't do what ever the fuck thay did after the great race, and just let thomas be the best little blue tank engine he was. I feel like the CGI looked good definitely not as good as the model series. The model series actually felt like a place you could go to, because it looked so real the way the trains moved was life-like, there was so much attention to detail you could even see the trees swaying in the air when Harold took off. the CGI series looked pretty good but really lost the realism from the past seasons the trains moved faster than there top speed they bounce around which looks really off-putting and the humans lost there goofy look which makes them look less charming in comparison. and the Sharon miller era was bad. but the reboot makes the CGI era look like a masterpiece in comparison though.

The songs in Thomas the Tank Engine are amazing. I don’t think I know of any other kids show that put as much effort into their music than Thomas did. Mike O Donnel and Junior Campbell took Britt’s rule of not talking down to children to heart. They made Thomas’ theme actually memorable and catchy, and didn’t do some generic kids show theme that says something like “We CaN dO tHiS tOgEtHeR cUz WeRe FrEiNdS”. In fact, the Thomas music is so good, that I’m literally a bit jealous of its music. They know what good music is, and I will always love Thomas’ music.

You really need to check out some of the older themes. Barry Grey's work for instance. Thunderbirds (original, not the CGI copy), Stingray and many more! Freddie Phillips is another. I suggest you to watch an episode of "robot trains" and Chugginton to then let your conclusions to the new reboot, I liked the animation in the reboot and even the obscure characters designs (not thomas his design is horrible), but there is some episodes that I just can't stay myself and just scream at the screen. There was one in which one of thomas eletric friends would spare it's battery to light up a tunnel while Thomas and Percy clearly had LAMPS ON THEIR BUFFERBEANS!
