0:43 This one is especially funny because, as everyone knows, Gordon and Henry are the only ones who could even be remotely (and unfairly) described as “fat.” Thomas is more the “small, short and stumpy” variety. (That’s almost a word-by-word quote from the first story about him). The worst thing I could ever say about Thomas, and this is oddly a compliment that I can’t think of anything worse, is that despite being the designated “Number 1” engine, he’s definitely not the best one (nor is there a “best” one, they all work hard and get their jobs done, jobs that they are each good for and could not be done well without). I’d say he’s a little overrated. My favorite has always been Percy. I can relate a lot to his youth, his socially awkward moments, his general insecurities but cheerful spirit and his deep admiration for Gordon.

I hate to break it to you, because you are a very good and useful engine, but Sir Topham Hatt should’ve told you: you’re the only Tank Engine of your kind left in the world. All the others worked for harder taskmasters and were ultimately sent to the scrapyards. I’m telling you this, because I know that if I don’t, Devious Diesel might do it when he’s having a bad day, just to make you as miserable as he is. Keep up the good work, and remember, Sir Topham himself would have to be scrapped first before you or any of the engines would go to scrap. He loves you and wants only what’s best for you. Your hard work and his love is part of what’s keeping all of you alive.
