All I have to say is amen! When I was 3 I got a huge box of Thomas and friends TOMY and when I was 6 I got a cranky set but it had this weird track that was Luke Skywalkers hair color but then a year later it turned brown for the shake bridge. Then for my brother's 7th birthday ( I was 10 ) he got a huge Thomas set and I was disappointed. The track changed Thomas was small and stupid. So was the car!! The set was the pirate one by the way. But my point is BRING BACK TOMY!!! They only make Pokemon stuff and I love that but they should! Thank you for your time!

Trackmaster Merlin got that shining silver which I personally find good to look at and so did everyone else. I think kids are attracted more to the looks instead of background information. Lexi is missing this special thing on her, the coulours are pretty bland too to be honest. Her background is unique but kids don't really pay attention to that.

I notice the Female characters always struggle to sell. Imagine if Lexi was Male and done in strong colours, I think this would have changed the fate of this very curious engine. Lexi can be used as a boy or girl name so I don't think the name is the problem here.

I gotta be honest. While I do like the new tech with the track master 2 line, I do prefer the older models cause they look a lot better. If there was a way to combine them both and get a mode that is both faster and has the great look of Tomy track master classics, that would be great.

When it comes to Stephen I prefer the Plarail Stephen because it looks better than both the 2013 and 2017 Trackmaster Counterparts. the Standard chassis and not siderods kinda put me off buying the 2017 Stephen and I just love the Plarail one I have.

Anything Playrail blows away everything Mattel are doing with the Thomas Trackmaster 2 toys. I had no gripe with Trackmaster Classic. But I'm thinking Trackmaster 2 has some very unusual design problems. Yes it's a clever one size fits all toy core, but this hammers the Thomas characters visually.

The Freak; an experimental-ish rebuild of a wrecked locomotive built by the North Pacific Coast Railroad #21. It was an oil burner, the tender was a flat car with a pair of stationary boilers from steam donkeys for the tender body. It was actually named the Thomas Stetson. It had a watertube boiler, and would have been successful had it had a proper adhesion weight. It was scrapped in the early 30s due to running cost. It's issue was not the water tube boiler (which was known to have problems, maybe not in the Thomas Stetson), it was the fact that it didn't have enough wieght in the back. Had the cylinders been on the back, that might've been different.

So far, i love all the classic track amster trains. The classics and the tomy all had their own personality molds. Each character was different and that's what is important. Nowadays all track master 2 train look the same. I also have the classic harvey and I love it

His crane arm doesn’t even rotate all the way around like it’s supposed to in the old toy and since that is how it is the crane arm gets in the way a lot when I turn him on when he’s on my Trackmaster track

I have to say, I think I agree with you regarding the first 2 engines-Classic Stephen but TM2 Harvey (never thought I'd say that!) Curiously I've seen the same, especially as I think Lexi is a super awesome looking engine-her craziness is so eye catching, both on the show and as a toy, and it seems different is what sells (or at least that's what they say!) so I'm unsure why they don't like her! Funny you say abstract ones don't work, and that's all Mattel seems to be doing at the moment (even if I agree with you)

honestly I'm torn between each of the Harveys... imo there's a lot to like about both designs. Though I do prefer trackmaster 1 Harvey, I would still like to have a trackmaster 2 harvey (not that I had either already lol) Just a shame I haven't seen them release a normal harvey without the added decals, I would really love to slap some tomy traction tires and red side rods on it, simply because I would like to have a Harvey with the battery actually in the engine, the added width on the trackmaster 2 Harvey model doesn't really bother me as much as... other models in the tm2 range

Harvey and Lexi seem to adorn all the shelves of my local Wal-Mart and Target stores, with a plethora of Steelworks Thomases too. It seems as though here, Lexi in particular isn't selling well. I think it's her faded colors that do her in. Honestly can't think of any other reason why she'd be left on the shelves. I'm glad you've decided to take a look at these 3! I think Stephen looks off with those tiny wheels(but his face is fairly accurate in looks if not in size, and you got the King of the Railway parts spot on!), and Harvey looks too big, but in a strange sense of irony, Lexi is the best looking one! Haha
