So I decided to try out the snus they have of the same name, and the product description mentions slaked lime and Betelnut (I'm surprised it even came over the border, as I'm pretty sure Betelnut isn't legal here)... I have no idea if that stuff you tried has the same ingredients, but if so, that crazy burning you got is from the "lime" (caustic alkaline mineral made from seashells and whatnot, that literally makes micro-tears in your mouth and nose). Also, the strength of Indian snuff is usually due to it being made from Rustica tobacco, the much more potent relative of the tobacco we know in the west. Ps-- I am pretty sure people in India usually just dab a bit of this stuff on their gums. Even though it's marketed as a nasal snuff.

Nah we don't dab it on our gums. We got chewing tobacco for that, 'dip' as the Americans call it. But this was a great snuff that I didn't expect to be this good.

I don't care for mentholated snuffs that much but this one is good in my opinion. I really like this one when I had a cold. The 30 gram tin is very nice and aluminum with a screw off lid.

It does have a sharp burn but the smell is kinda vanilla creme with mint. I do always keep some in my rotation but only take occasionally.

They add lime like the one they use in construction seems like. I read they do that in Asia when they make snuff/dip. That may be the reason for the burn.
