One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that these speakers don't disappear. You can localize the tweeter especially when something sharp plays. If enough people ask for the RF7 III, I will reach out to Klipsch, it would help if you can send them an email too. Don't forget to like and subscribe.

Please review the RF7 III. The 8000F and the RF7's were on my shortlist. In the end I went with their heritage line and got some Cornwalls. Definitely not a bright sounding speaker, but with amazing dynamics.

Thomas, congratulations on another entertaining review, particularly one that a wide range of people can relate to. I've owned both those since they first came out and concur with your experience with each, however, I usually listen to them in a surround setup, but have spent a lot of time pairing them with several amps in stereo application. What I conclude is that the RP series are fundamentally, sound reinforcement speakers, intended to deliver clean dynamics, i.e. fast transition in dB as one would appreciate in an action movie sound effects. When I have used them strictly in stereo, they lack frequency response in the mid band, particularly when played at moderate levels. When belting out sound, they tend to come into better balance through the frequency band (high to low). When playing live music recordings, they can shine nicely over more expensive gear, but they really come together when used in a full 7 or 5 channel setup. The Klipsch center brings out all the missing vocals from the towers or bookshelf types. Then you get true instrument separation with the singer in the middle as in a real live venue. I also own the previous model RF towers with the newest RF center. Although these components are a good bit better than the RP series, the same thing tends to be true. When paired with their center channel, absolutely glorious. Without, as you say, meh. It is simply that the 6.5" and 8" woofers have a significant dB drop off from about 800hz and up, so those speakers rely on the wave guide tweeter (i.e. horn) to pick up the slack. Problem is that those horns only dip down to about 2Khz, thus leaving a void in part of the vocal range. Some think the RP series is warm, but it only seems that way from lack of lower vocal range. The center channel corrects most of this shortcoming. Still, they are a lot of fun, especially for the budget pricing. Won't be using any of my RP gear to replace stereo listening of my Cornwall 3s any time soon though. Cheers Thomas!

Thomas, You really, really helped me pick the right speakers for my setup. I watch a lot of audio review channels, and you are one of the best! It's obvious when you're excited about a speaker, and you are so good at articulately describing your experience so that I feel that I have just demoed them myself. I ended up buying the RP8000F towers, the 504c center, RP500 SA atmos speakers, a couple of Polk 265 RT in walls and an SVS PB-3000 subwoofer for a 5.1.2. I'm using the Denon X3700H and an Emotiva amp to help drive these bad boys. Eventually I will pump this thing up to a 7.1.4, but my only hurdle is that one of the surrounds will be in a wall with a gas fireplace below it. The sheetrock gets darn right hot, and I'm concerned that the heat will ruin the speakers. What do you think about putting an in wall speaker in a wall that has a gas fireplace in it?

Thank you for making a direct comparison between these and the LSiM, as it was a subject that had crossed my mind. My LSiM 5.0 set up sounds terrific with a Denon x7200. But the Klipsch RP sound amazing in a demo room. With no way to pair them for a side-by-side, I rely on word of mouth. Your vids provide authentic, no frills assessments that have enough credibility for my peace of mind.

Went from the MA bronze 1 to the Klipsch RP-160M (I'm 15 so couldn't afford the RP600(they cost almost 900 USD here in Norway.) paired with a Hegel HD11 and NAD D3045. And to be honest, I totally agree that the RP line Klipsch's are really fun listening to. You're one of the reasons I decided to buy the RP-160M. They're not sharp at all (a lot of people complain about Klipsch speakers being sharp) They're incredibly loud, Still maintain their "fullness" and doesn't get tinny/or sharp when you turn them up. Yet to break them in so can't judge them, wish they went a little lower (even though I've got a SVS PB-1000). But their bass is quite impressive down to 40 Hz. Keep up your work man, really enjoy your content. Cheers from Norway :)

I respect you as a reviewer because you are not snobbish towards Polk Audio LSiM. Many audiophiles dismiss them regardless of price. But these speakers go toe to toe with many others. As an all rounder, and at the current price, it's impossible to beat. You get a lot of speaker for very little $$. And that is a value that you may not beat in a lifetime. Sure you can spend a lot more and get a better speaker but value wise,. this beats everything out there. I paid $1050 for my pair from Adorama, shipped. I will never part with my pair even though i have other more 'higher' end speakers and brands audiophiles would much rather pay attention too. I am keeping these till the drivers rot.

I almost LIVE at London drugs! I am literally on a first name basis with staff! I wanted to say they have bent over backwards for me with honoring expired sales pricing, most recently they honored the sale of the SPL100 sub at $599 vs $799 on 2 separate occasions. They also matched The Bricks pricing on a Klipsch R52C center channel for my wife! SUCH GREAT SERVICE Lastly, having seen the Klipsch RP504C on sale somewhere for $750 (reg $999) I made EVERY effort to have someone honor that and that wasn't happening... knowing that Visions sells select RP speakers I pushed & they agreed to sell it at $750+tax!!! Long and short, KLIPSCH is fantastic, way out performs its price point and deals pop up often!!! Last thing... when I excitedly arrived home with the RP260F'S (the predisessor to the RP6000) I wanted to hear them so bad that I just quickly hooked them to our center channel in our small theater on our main floor. I was giddy like a kid seeing a new bike in the living room! Out of a large showroom and in a more easily filled room these BLEW my mind! Clear/Bright & PUNCHY!!! AMAZINGLY FULL SOUND GOOD LUCK

I am seriously thinking about buying a pair of Klipsch (the price is right!), but they seem to have a lot of cheap parts on them (like the steel binding posts), so Im checking with all my dealers now to see if they know anyone who can upgrade the 600ms with new binding posts (WBT) and crossovers and internal wire. @@estebannemo1957 Well, they have to to reach a certain price point. There are 2 ways to look at it. For me, I find it amazing that they can deliver such an amazing sound with cheap components. Anyone can build a fancy speaker / system when money is no object. We can always improve on something but there is a reason why a speaker is at a certain price point. Usually, from what I gathered, to run a successful business, the cost of the speaker is about 15% of the selling price else the company will go out of business. Why? If you ever ran a business, you will understand all the hidden cost behind. Now, if you want something of more value, then you will have to look at companies that sell direct to customers perhaps. Here is a link to a comment from a manufacturer that will explain it better. A very good read. www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/1348949-philharmonic-audio-dennis-murphy-279.html#post57933376

Hello Thomas, just to share a recent experience. I have Klipsch RP400m . (Previously had 600m and 8000F) I also have Q Acoustics Concept 300. A few days ago, I received my Choco sound Emei. The concepts sounded ok with it. I switched to my Heco Aurora 200 , and immediately my wife whose don't give a f*ck about my tests, says "Those sounds better". ( I was also instantly thinking the same). Later that day, and after listen a little more to the Auroras, ( to make sure it was only that one song) i came to the conclusion, that yes, Auroras sounded better to my ears. ( Not in micro detail, bottom end etc. Just not ashamed by any means in comparison) Then i connect the RP400m.... Since the first note, I was perplexed... "No way"... I think i finally met synergy, because otherwise i cant explain what im hearing. Thing is, all you said in your video, is true. The RP line, is fun in a very special way, and also got a warning from my wife for being carried away with loudness and fun. Ideed its crazy how good the modern affordable speakers sound today.

A conclusion would be easy to reach that says the 280f has not good or bad bass definition or that the bass is hummy (box resonance). On the speaker's own it probably does have bass issues but if you used ypao room correction, it will fix that bass right up on the 280f. The bass is clean and powerful in my system with the 280f.

I never, ever compare a bookshelf to a floorstander counterpart for several reasons. 1) Different cost 2) The floorstander could be like the bookshelf with extended bass and dynamics or 3) The floorstander could have goofed the implementation and introduce flaws 4) Two different applications. Ideally, the floorstander is (2) more of everything good than the bookshelf is. But I have rarely seen a floorstander that performs as well as a well set up bookshelf and a sub. Essentially, the NHT and JBL l7 towers are a bookshelf mated to a built-in sub and well engineered/integrated. But more often than not...a tower version cuts too many corners to be a successful improvement. (Ie Bloated bass) FWIW: I appreciate Klipsch for certain strengths. I have the rp600M and a sub in one of my systems. Klipsch's titanium tweeter and crossover are inferior to a number of products out there. They lack linearity, control and dimension.
@vtkz
@vtkz 4 жыл бұрын
Yep agree with that, spec the active bookshelf ones. I owned the RF7 and replaced them with Active bookshelf 3 ways - and they are wayyyy better in every category. More precise, lower bass, better detailed imaging, they performes perfect in low & loud volumes - its all about the Effort in Speaker Design & Planning and not the size. Agree, most of the times a Bookshelf with/without Sub is the better solution than a big Tower. And yea. you get a lot for your money with klipsch but there are also better solutions on the market

@@vtkz the Klipsch RP8000 towers have a HUGE dip in response (-10db) between the midrange and treble. The RP600M bookshelf doesn't. There is no excuse for that other than cost-cutting / bad engineering on the 8000.

I was planning to buy 8000 for fronts, 6000 for rears, 504 for center, and some vented SVS or Arendal sub. The room is pretty small (~20 sq.m.) and music/movies 70/30. But now we got a damn war here. So, I'm not sure I will reach financially that setup. How do You think, maybe I should consider RP-600m for fronts and rears, 504 for center and 2 sealed subs instead? Or it's better to stick to original setup still (just, probably, to substitute rears for RP-600m instead of RP-6000)?

Excellent review Thomas. I have also been really impressed with the latest offerings from Klipsch. They really have found the "sweet spot" for the average audiophile who doesn't have money to burn. There needs to be a new metric for all of these above-average, entry level pieces of audio equipment coming out. We'll call it the P.A.W. (Punching Above its Weight) score. Not sure how the math should work on that, but I'm sure we could get plenty of suggestions. Maybe like a ratio of "expections" from 1 - 10 over "actual enjoyment level" 1 - 10. Anyway, take care and thanks for another outstanding review.

Another great time listening to your thoughts and stories Thomas! Props on step-in up the video quality and shots. I really enjoyed the one big shot of the front setup panning down.. good stuff man. I have been going back and forth on this same question all year debating between the RP600M due to all the reviews and from some short listening sessions but in the back of my mind I always wondered if bigger would mean better. I ultimately got lucky enough to hear the 8000F and was blown away but also missed that instrument separation and detail of the RP600M just like you did. So what to do? I purchased the RP 4000F! It seems to be the forgotten child of the lineup because I bought them for an absolute steal brand new, less than the RP600Ms! I am hoping it will l split the difference and give me that just right Goldilocks experience. I have to admit I am worried that the small drivers may hold it back but the small cabinet for a floor stander really intrigued me and it goes deeper than the RP600M, with maybe even more control due to the small drivers? Thats the hope anyway still need to set up this week hopefully I'll let you know! Keep up the great work it doesn't go unnoticed. Glad you are sticking with it!

After doing some research I found out that the dual driver Klipsch is 80 degrees out of phase and it’s very present depending on what seating height you have. They really need a crossover mod to be corrected. A DAC can help but the woofers need to be wired separately if that’s what you plan to do. Do some research and you will find that not only am I correct but they really come to life after being modded.

Ah the Gr research vs audioholics debate. You know I have received email from people who have modded their speaker based on Gr research, some loved it and then there are some who hated it. You are assuming it sound better because the graph looks better but if you look at the blind sound test demo from new record day on the rp600m with the Gr research mod, half prefer the original one before the mod.

I've got two R-28F Klipsch towers and 2 12SW Klipsch subs in my smallish/medium theater room. I listen to these in 2.2 for music and I could not imagine how anything could top this modest little setup! Even driven by a flaky Onkyo TXNR757 home theater reciever, they ROCK. I went to a Tool concert in Memphis last night and I swear to god it sounds better on my damn Best Buy Klipsch speakers. I thought it during the entire concert and I just confirmed it 30 minutes ago by cranking the volume on this Onkyo louder than I'd ever cracked it before. I cranked it to 75 out of 99, and while the noise floor/background noise was quite high, the music itself was VERY lively, clean, crisp and the bass from two cheap ass subs was in my soul, with great impact. The closest I've ever heard to concert level volume and clarity in any place other than a concert. It was really quite the experience I just had! I listened to Invincible, by Tool from their new album. It was a religious experience. Pretty sure my neighbors were NOT as enthuised about it as me though... I'm also a headphone enthusiast but there's no comparison when it comes to headphones and even a modest (like mine) loudspekaer setup. When I bought these speakers back in 2016 (maybe 2017?) they were like $450 a piece and the subs were the same a piece. Though I did catch them all on sale for about a $100 off each. So $350 each. Knowing what these low end Klipsch towers can do I'd be thrilled to own the RP8000 or something from the Heritage line or RF7III. One day!

Let me say what Thomas should have said:. Klipsch are the best, there might be a reason to buy a smoother speaker like a jbl, elac, polk or kef as a secondary/demoing reference speaker but Klipsch is the best overall, especially when you can turn it up loud. They are the best theater speaker for sure and it's like a concert in your house playing music. That's it folks, get a Yamaha receiver, play around with the position and room correction and enjoy. I don't even need high end DACs, streamers, stands, wires, interconnecters, dvd players, acoustic treatments on my walls- all I needed was a Yamaha Aventage receiver, Monoprice monolith speaker cables, nakamichi banana plugs, roku, hulu, my phone's bluetooth and spotify. I feel like I might be missing some things higher end speakers might be able to offer but my down to earth mind tells me most high end audio is a slippery slope and mostly a waste of money. Klipsch honestly don't need bass definition, these things have their own sound and it is perfect for what it does. I wouldn't change it except if you could get out some smear. RP280F squash the RP600M. But the 600M makes a nice atmos speaker. I wish I could post a picture for everyone to see how I have found best position in my room. I have RP280 about 5' apart and then the 600M about 2 foot next to them (outside) raised up on adjustable stands set to 35-36" which puts the tweeter about 4 foot high. The 600M are angled in about 30-35 degrees while the 280F are about 3-5 degrees in. I have 504C below my tv on a tv stand. Super highly enjoyable system! I always considered my ears that of an audiophile and I love these speakers! This might be my endgame at least with theater and this type of sound (very lively), though, I could see myself losing my mind and going with a speaker in the future with horned mids and bass drivers. I may also experiment with a Magnepan system and the NX-Otica from GR-Research. Because I like to hear other varieties of sounds and I am curious always. But I believe the Klipsch will be a long-time keeper system that is really hard not to be greatly happy with and how about that price? Cheaper than a lot of bookshelves, there has got to be a laugh when comparing these to bookshelf speakers. Adding dual subs gives the type of bass that has as much punch and weight and soundstage as the rest of the system. You don't actually need a sub but it does add some pressure to the room.

These are excellent for Home Theater. You will need to power them with a more layered amplifier like Anthem. I have an Anthem Statement P5 on RF82s, RC52, and RS62II on the surrounds. Also RF42IIs for surround back with a smaller amp. The P5 is very layered and silky and you'll need a sub for H.T. Best sub for H.T. is SVS and match the crossover settings with the parametric equalizer on the SVS. I use a 13 Ultra. I don't hold Klipsch as much for 2 channel as I do for H.T. For music go for something else. Also for spl efficiency, Klipsch definitely fudges that stat. They are not as efficient as Klipsch claims. The 8000F is on my replacement list for the RF82s. Everything else stays the same. An upgrade would be Paradigm Prestige. Hope this helps.

Ahhh I am so excited you got these speakers ☺️ thanks for a solid review man. Always top quality. I have a Yamaha receiver and was blown away at how well Klipsch and Yamaha pair. I'd be very curious what you think of the heritage line

@@ThomasAndStereo I hope they send you them man. I'm a part of a Klipsch group on Facebook and from what I hear the rf7s and the Cornwalls are two incredible sounding speakers

Thanks Thomas I got the RP 8000F last week... I felt good ordering from Amazon with your review. I love them so far.... you mention the break in period ... how long do you think that is. I really appreciate your fun and informative videos. Jerry. OH it's on an 80 watt NAD.

Great you are enjoying them. I would say at least 30 hours for it to smooth a bit and ideally 100 hours.

Hello Thomas, thanks for the excellent review. Am considering these speakers to go with my Marantz model 30 amplifier. Buying them online, hence cannot audition them before buying. Would it be a good match for this amp? My genre of music is Classic rock, jazz, blues.... Thanks in advance.

I personally like it but keep in mind it does have a V curve so the positive is it is very lively and fun, the downside is not all instruments in the presentation will have the same presence. I have not heard the Model 30 so I don't know its sound signature.

Two other reviewers specifically mentioned the RP-8000F having a more or less flat response, with the highs being smooth and extensive but not harsh or overpowering.

Possible, all depends what gear you pair it with and how you position it.

Great work! Loved this comparison. I'm in a dilemma, should I buy R-820F's or the RP-8000F's? The 8000's are double priced

I’ve had both and kept the 280Fs because they aren’t quite as bright imo. Running them off of a marantz 6013 Avr and Emotiva xpa3 for front stage. 504c center. And I don’t like the copper trim rings they incorporated in the newer model.

@@TheDoozie43 I'm choosing between 280 and 8000. Thanks for Your opinion. But that man 👆had been asking for difference between 820 and 8000 (Reference line vs Reverence Premiere).

These seem very similar to the RP-280f’s with the exception of the open baffle on the 8000’s. I definitely prefer the wooden plinths on the older series to the plastic feet.
