Ah yes , Rekku may have been underrated here in the states but those who heard his fine guitar work that was certainly not the case. He is one hell of great guitarist & even his Snakecharmer LP shows such a fine talent as with the entire band. Just an opinion but Jukka Tolonen & Rekku were two the the best players to come out of the 70's . Neither got the credit they deserve especially Jukka. Jim Pembroke was such a fine writer as well as the rest of this outstanding band. Shame they never came to the States , at least i got the chance to see Jan Akkerman with Focus back in 72 , the only time i believe they came here. For any guitar geeks out there Pekka is playing a custom built guitar with a Hoyer neck with the neck pickup in reverse for that old out of phase Peter green tone . Got that Les Paul style body but it's not a Gibson.

Fantastic footage and I thank the poster for this awesome piece!

Dave Toscano The greatest reason I wish Wigwam would have gotten famous, is that they could have been put on film. Footage of Wigwam with Pohjola and Gustavson, or with Nikamo and Huldén for that matter, that has surfaced to this day is next to nothing. Only two years after Pohjola left Wigwam, he joined Made In Sweden, which performed on Musikladen, and the whole show can be seen today. And to hammer it down, press releases at the time praised Wigwam's live performances as magnificent and indescribable.

Very nice track, this. Although I've been with prog rock right through from the late 60s, Wigwam have somehow eluded me. I'd heard Tasavallan Presidentti and, sadly, wasn't too impressed - somewhat tuneless and directionless, I felt (and for prog rock generically, the absence of keyboards was not helpful in getting my approval!) So I didn't check out any more Finnrock bands until now. But having read a review of their music in Record Collector, I decided to give them a go. Well, this was the first thing I came to, and it won't be the last... THIS IS MORE LIKE IT!!! At first, I was seeing them as a kind of Finnish Focus... then the vocalist came in over the guitar, and I was instantly reminded of the great and hugely underrated Rare Bird vocalist Steve Gould - no mean comparison! But then the lengthy instrumental section started, and initially I was thinking, Hey, Caravan - brilliant! But then the guitar joined in with the soloing, and the whole atmosphere clarified into... Camel! What a fabulous combination. The guys obviously did their homework, and learned well from the masters. Checking this track out on Discogs, it seems to be a complicated story, but is basically a song from their '77 Dark Album, which was only included on later issues and CD reissues. But now I'm interested, so I'll check out some of the material from the 70s, and see what it was that got everybody but me interested - in those days, I was so deeply into Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP, Greenslade, Van der Graaf Generator, Brand X, Rare Bird, Starcastle, Tomita, Tangerine Dream and Todd Rundgren, that there was really no time for much beyond (other than my eternally guilty pleasure, the Beach Boys! Although I'm not quite sure just why I should have to feel guilty about liking them). Great song, good band, thanks for getting me pitched up with the rest of the camp, even at this late stage!
