Golden rules north of 40 years 1). Macros - 1.5 gm protein/ lb body weight and 50 to 100 gm carbohydrates per day. Cheat day on leg day (400 to 500 gm). Fat @ approx 100 gm but focus on healthy fats (fish, avocado). 2). Cardio is also very important; found joy in the challenge of Jujitsu. 3). Strength training, stops whenever he loses form and avoid ego lifting. Trains light when in doubt. Preservation vs injury. 4). Protein daily: 10 oz egg whites w/2 whole eggs; 50 gms protein powder, 10 gm collagen & creatine; another protein shake; post workout x2 salads with double chicken (no dressing); 2nd protein shake after work; dinner is protein with portion of carbs (1/2 cup rice or half sweet potato; dessert - low fat greek yoghurt & protein powder pudding. Nitrogen retention diminshes after 40. Make it a priority. 5). Blood work on regular basis for kidney function, etc. 6). Carbohydrate allocation towards evening (sleep, social life, etc.). 7). Sleep optimization strategy, requires more sleep for recovery. Avoids light (drapes). 8). Caffeine intake limited to AM most of the time. 9). Turns off phone 7pm to avoid distraction before sleep. 10). Use of active recovery with hot tub and magnesium. 11). Superset muscle groups, 8-12 reps for 4 sets (1 as warm up), and short rest breaks. 12). Jujitsu in the evenings, or, "Ride the lightning" =- sled work & farmer carries for 20 mins. After core (stability), mobility & flexibility work. 13). TRT discussion, principle of optimization. Lethargy, foggy headedness & libido @ 39 years. Abuse of Test in early 20s admission. Stopped after marriage and kids. "Hornone test" equal to that of "house wife". 14). Optimization protocol - 1cc Test, and peptides BPC 157 & TB 500 for recovery. Also takes x2 IUs HGH x6 days per week. 15). Does not drink alcohol, drug, or tobacco. Avoids other pharmaceuticals (ie Adderall). Also avoids preserved, packaged, and fast foods. 16). Bodyweight & body composition @ 223lbs with abbs showing. 17). Travels with own water and protein support. It's both a commitment and lifestyle. 18). Government legalizes what they can profit from by taxation (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, etc). 19). TRT / Endrochronllgist physicians have improved. 20). What is the mental health benefit of hormone optimization? SxS to look for: sleep, libido, mental acuity, "hitting the wall" & recovery. Get a blood test. 21). "Do the most with the least with the best that you can." Motivation is also a critical factor/slippery slope. The training and diet cycle. Bleeds into work / business, family, & mental well being.

I have no idea of what my testosterone levels are but I don't have any of these symptoms mentioned here. I'm 61 years old. I guess I'll just consider myself lucky. Just glad that I finally started working out consistently 2 years ago and dropped a ton of body fat. I'm stronger and more muscular than ever. It took a heart attack to wake me up. Just start now you youngins and learn from my mistake. Life is so much better when you are in shape.

If you get an annual exam, just request to have your testosterone checked. It's often standard to have this tested at least once a decade when you get older. I'm 60 and my total testosterone was at 618 ng/dL last November. These guys are both in such poor health considering the effort they put into optimizing their fitness and nutrition. Thomas said that his testosterone is in the 300s and he gets lethargic if he consumes 30 grams of carbs in the morning (outside his workout window). He seems to be glucose intolerant. Thomas recently interview Byran Johnson, then Bedros. You think he would start putting two and two together.

I was like the incredible hulk! I had a PSA test in January 2014. It was 4. In July, it was 7.5. The VA immediately stopped my T because they claimed that it could be responsible for prostate cancer. Since being off T for 3 months, my strength has diminished. I'm becoming an old man now. If I have prostate cancer, I've decided to get testosterone from a source and begin the shots again. I'm currently 54 years old. Been on TRT since I was 31 years old. I firmly believe my natural hormone levels dropped due to non-regulation of OTC products in the 80's and 90's. I was 6-1 and 120 pounds when I graduated from high school so I spent my entire life trying to put on weight. I stayed away from steroids until my 40's. In my 40's I did 2 deca/test cycles and 3 tren/test cycles. I put on a lot of mass and I could eat anything I wanted. I'm also lucky that I escaped with no damage to my internal organs from the cycles. My metabolism finally slowed down around age 48. My diet now consists primarily of high protein, medium fat and low carb. And like Bedros, I like my carbs at night lol! This was a great video! I love the honesty.

@steven_dekok5 ай бұрын
@@everready800 No need for PCT if you are on TRT. I would avoid anything that promises an increase in testosterone. Studies show they initially increase your T levels but you have to keep using them. Once you stop, your T levels actually have been shown to drop even lower. And with continued use of those supplements, your T levels also return to what they were before you started. There are things you can do naturally to increase your T such as losing fat, eating healthier but at some point, you will need TRT. Unless you are one of the lucky few.

@gpswatchingАй бұрын
@@randyb637 it involved making a lot lifestyle changes. De-stressing: relearning proper breathing, setting aside regular times to calm down intentionally, no exercising, meditate, bedtime rituals that helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. Stabilizing blood sugar: for me that was reading the book Adrenal Fatigue and implementing a diet that eliminated grains, dairy, sugar, caffeine. If I was doing it today, a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting would work. Learning gratitude. Reading the book One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, really helped. This is a few of the things. Basically cortisol goes up when insulin levels stay high. Insulin levels stay high when there’s a constant supply of high blood sugar. Also, cortisol stay high when you remain in a fight or flight mindset, stressed out all of the time. Even over exercising increases cortisol.

Most doctors will write you a Testosterone prescription if levels are a bit low or you state that you lack energy. Once on testosterone therapy for several years your body will no longer have the ability to produce adequate amounts naturally. From many years as a trainer and being in multiple public gyms I realize that most men use testosterone as a crutch to have lean muscle mass, strength, and size that they are not willing to put in the work for. Patient beware, artificially juicing your body up with this hormone may increase metabolism of latent cancer cells in the body. The doctor you're seeing multiple times a years and the pharmaceutical companies love their TTh patients, pays the light bill every month.

@kellynovak9956 Well, it's supposedly 30% off ANY 1st time order... nevermind using a DeLauer - or any other disct. code. And, yah - They do seem a bit manipulative in their marketing strategies. Not at all surprised the real discount is limited to $20. The free $90 in groceries with membership - is ONGOING - but once they think you may be a potential 'biter' - their marketing emails try to imply URGENCY (to join) - they start sending marketing emails, like 'LAST CHANCE for $90 in groceries, with membership!😮 Or, this...$90 in free groceries ends soon!(there is never an end date, because it's standard with membership - and not a promo that's gonna end. I KNOW bc I questioned these emails with them - there IS no end date on $90 free groceries. So...that's as deceptive as a 'buy now!...only ONE left(!) - marketing strategy. I've been toying with the prospect of joining - but have found that the $90 in free groceries - are not really 'groceries' (not in my mind anyway), it's a bunch of snacks that they've decided are worth $90 - haha (to me their 'healthy snacks' are not really 'food') AND 'groceries', to me, means REAL food - not packaged snack foods. I've been seeing a rising trend in the food industry and grocery suppliers moving more toward this idea of 'healthy snacks'. But what they are pushing as 'healthy snacks' are packaged, processed foods that may not be filled with preservatives and/or hidden sugars or, maybe just not laden with high fructose corn sugar. This, imo, does not make them 'healthy' - or even real food! They are STILL packaged, processed non-food 'foods' snacks. Whereas, a 'healthy' snack, imo, would be a fresh, non-processed REAL food, like an apple, pear, kiwi, organge...a bit of quality cheese, a glass of milk - handful of nuts, and the like. 😊

**Key Takeaways:** 1. **High Protein, Low Carb Diet:** Emphasize a diet high in protein (230-235 grams daily) and low in carbohydrates (50-75 grams daily with one high-carb day weekly). This supports muscle maintenance and growth while aiding in fat loss for those over 40. 2. **Healthy Fats and Avoid Processed Foods:** Consume a moderate amount of healthy fats (80-100 grams daily) from sources like fish and avocados, and avoid processed foods to minimize bloating and inflammation. 3. **Enjoyable Cardio and Consistent Strength Training:** Engage in cardio activities that are enjoyable to maintain consistency and interest. Incorporate strength training with a focus on proper form and gradually increasing weights to avoid injury. 4. **Sleep Optimization:** Prioritize getting 7.5-8 hours of sleep per night and optimize the sleep environment to enhance rest quality. This is crucial for recovery and overall health. 5. **Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT):** For men experiencing symptoms of low testosterone, such as poor sleep, low sex drive, and slow recovery from workouts, TRT may be considered under a doctor's supervision to improve quality of life and overall well-being. 6. **Holistic Approach to Health:** Emphasize a balanced approach to fitness that includes clean eating, regular exercise, and possibly hormone optimization. Avoid pushing the body to extremes, especially as it ages, to prevent injuries. 7. **Personalization and Adaptation:** Understand that dietary and exercise needs may evolve with age. Adjust routines and intake according to personal health status and results from regular medical check-ups. 8. **Educational and Responsible Use of Enhancements:** Bedros Keuilian advocates for a responsible and educated approach to using substances like TRT, comparing its need and use to other hormone regulating therapies. This is seen as essential for maintaining health and vitality in older age. These principles are shared by Bedros Keuilian to help individuals over 40 optimize their fitness and health regimes, emphasizing sustainability, safety, and personalization.

Im all for Testosterone supplements for men over 40 especially business owners. Im 48 and haven’t taken TRT in a couple years but totally understand. I owned a business that manufactured things like Coin star, Redbox vending machines, Arc’teryx displays world wide, and we also fabricated and installed red iron (steel) for buildings, homes, and other stuff. When I sold my business I went and had my testosterone tested and it was 190 something. A 20 year old man will have around 1000. So because of long stretches of stress I had the test of a 70 year old man. The doctor told me that if I relax in life it would take about 18 months to get my testosterone up some. I chose to take testosterone shots for about two years. It wasn’t enough to get totally jacked but it definitely helped my strength. Im actually in way better shape now but not as strong.

I'm not a health nut. I'm 52. I ride a lot of mountain bike to stay healthy... But gaining weight is so easy. Muscle gain is so tough... And I've kind of adjusted to skipping down to one meal and having a shake in the day and that's helped.

I saw a study where they concluded that the amino acid isoleucine was primarily responsible for the longevity reducing effect of high protein intake. They fed mice the same amount but in one group they restricted just that amino acid, and the mice' longevity increased by about 30%. They otherwise ate the same amount of protein, just less of that particular amino acid.

I'm 57 and my biggest struggle is with sleep. I try but either wake up alot or wake up and can't go back to sleep. I rarely get a "good" nights sleep. This seems to be a common problem with people my age and I don't know what to do about it.

I'm on the north side of 50 now, life long health and fitness/athlete I concur with what Bedros is preaching overall - personally I need much more carbs than him and go 35/30/15 basically at 50+ you're maintaining health, strength & fitness, and, making smart choices with diet, training and lifestyle/sleep clinical TRT was a game changer for me mid 40's - higher end of the test scale and bloods are mint

PSA: If you’re trying to have a baby do not take any form of testosterone supplementation as it will more than likely significantly reduce your sperm count. I’m in women’s health, but order semen analysis on men when there are fertility concerns. TRT often leads to a 0 sperm count. Otherwise, TRT is beneficial in replacing testosterone to normal levels in men who are sympathetic, just as some women take HRT in peri-menopause/menopause to help improve their symptoms.

400-500 carbs once per week could be enough to lower your free testosterone steadily as we age. Add in a busy schedule, entrepreneurial problems, high physical activity and a family to take care of…that’s wild. I’m still mixed on TRT but I think it’s important guys with good intentions have access to it.
